My birthday is coming up in a month or so and I really, really want a cheat day. I've only lost 5-6 pounds so I'm worried they'll come back very quickly. I plan on having either cookie cake or that molten chocolate thing at Chili's (the best dessert I've ever had =]). I don't want to set back all this progress...is there anything to do?

go for it. one day won't undo everything. Maybe you could plan in an extra workout that day before heading out. Beware- those desserts are usually over 1000 calories. I know, devastating. Maybe you could share it with a friend/boyfriend? I do that sometimes. Anyway, it's your birthday, everyone needs a treat on their birthday!0

I agree with the post above. Do it. You dont have to deny yourself everything just eat in moderation plus I have heard that sometimes its good to have a big calorie day every once in a while. AND happy early bday.

Could you go ahead and plan out your menu for that day so you'll know how many cals you will be consuming. Also look at your maintenance cals and maybe try not to go over those. But anyway like kerrilucko said enjoy your day!!go for it. one day won't undo everything. Maybe you could plan in an extra workout that day before heading out. Go for it! I'm off to Vegas in a few weeks for my birthday and you better bet that I won't be counting any cals while i'm there! A day, or in my case a few days, aren't going to make or break me. Don't deny yourself pleasures in life, allow them in moderation0

Life's about choices. You may splurge and gain a bit, but it's also about living.
Have a fun day!0 -

I wouldnt take a cheat day so close to just starting however I wouldnt deny myself either ..so I say eat a light dinner and split the desert with someone...otherwise you may find yourself feeling guilty and its just not worth it ..there will be more B-Days...perhaps reward with a non food item0 -
I'm not sure who I'm quoting but.........

relax. eat the food. get back on board the next meal. if you spend your life denying everything, you will not stay on board long term. little indulgences, spread out, will keep you feeling satisfied.
I was stuck on a plateau for a month. I went out of town to my daughter's home, ate and drank like a crazy person, and came home and got back on board. I lost two pounds the very next week.
it takes 3500 cals to gain back one pound.
just workout the day before, the day of, and the day after to balance it.
and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -

Yup. I agree with Lucky. You are making changes for a lifetime not just until you get the desired weight off. You don't have to go overboard continue making good food choices, exercising AND include your special treat. I know my birthday is my favorite day of the year and it usually ends up being my birthday week with all the lunches, dinners and cocktails. I have no plans to change that I will just make sure the rest of my meals are appropriate and work out a little harder/longer. Realizing of course that it may take me a bit longer to reach my goal weight, I'm okay with that.
Enjoy! :drinker: And Happy Happy...my birthday is next week so we'll see how well my sage advise works!0 -

My birthday is coming up soon, and you think I'm calorie counting? Not a chance!
However, that's not saying I'll stuff my face. Small, moderate treats are fine on an infrequent basis. Just don't cheat for the sake of it being your birthday- think, do I REALLY want that cake, or is is just because I'm letting myself? I'm not sure "cheat" is a good term to use. It permits too much and dismisses accountability.
Maybe try being active as well. I'll be walking all over London for a few days, as well as enjoying the rather beautiful hotel room my boyfriend and I will be in- easy to get in fun exercise. Maybe go dancing or something? Maybe try the activity you've always wanted as a birthday treat? (I may drag my best friend horse riding- it's been a while since we hit a gallop and I used to love it.)
Happy birthday:flowerforyou:0 -

Woohoo! I'm headed out on Mar 29th with Lauryn1981 and I can't wait! She's never been before so you know it's going to be a fun time!0 -
There seem to be a lot of bdays coming up!
 Me too!
My plan is to log everything, no matter how huge the numbers go, but I'm also going to be very selective about those extra calories. I'm not going to waste them on something I don't really really want.
And I'm going to continue to work out extra that whole week.0 -

Yep, that's my plan too! Happy birthday all you March babies! :drinker: :flowerforyou: :drinker:0 -
I think we get caught up in the fact that this is an everyday battle or journey. But honestly 1 day is not going to undo the rest of your week, month or the entire fight. Consistant bad decisions is what has made us all gain weight. Not the occasional slip up. I say just have fun and get back on track the next day.

go for it I am off to Vegas the 19th for 5 nights. I plan on eating as healthy as I can, but I will allow myself to indulge a bit, especially with all the drinking that I am sure will be taking place. I am planning on NO DESERTS/SNACKS until then, and trying to work out everyday before I go. Also no drinking before then.
you deserve it, I mean, it is the day you were born!!0 -
well I say save enough calories so that you can have a desert.. just do an extra hard workout if you can..
I did that last week for my best friends birthday I worked my bum of on my workout during the day.. and I go a bananna nut cake for him it was in the shape of a women with bigg boobies and he loved it.. the thing was before could have cut it he licked all over it then when he blew the candles out one of our other friend smached his face into the cake  LOL so yeah I just sat there wanting and couldnt have... I just told myself I didnt need them calories anyway.. :drinker: :flowerforyou:
Its okay.. i really didnt need them.. But Good Luck with your choice hope it works out for you
Have A Happy Happy Birthday!!!0 -

my birthday is the 31st of month and cheating isn't on my mind at all-
As a matter of fact St Patty's day is really big in Savannah the partyin starts this weekend and I have no urge to even drink- I am too focused on my goal- I need to drop 3lbs before my birthday (thats my first mini goal to be half way to my goal by my birthday.
But if you choose to splurge on your birthday go for it-- It is your day and it is only 1 day0 -

All I want for my birthday is weight training gloves in pink- I have no urge for food I eat what I want but within my calories and workout
Be careful of those desserts they are just about a days worth of calories0
