How often should I strength train and when?

I have been doing great with my cardio and running every other day, should I be strength training on my days off or on the same day that I do cardio? I have had mixed messages and read somewhere that you should do it on the same day as your cardio as your muscles are already warmed up. However, I have also heard it is better to do it on your off days to prevent injury. Finally, any recommendations for strength training regime or programs would be great...hand weights, no weights/body resistance, machine, technique- focus on just one muscle group or many, how many reps, etc. Thanks in advance for the advice!!!

I got a routine from my brother who is really into fitness/health/working out. He has a body weight routine that is every other day, or M, W, F. Each workout covers all of the basic muscle groups, so thats why it's only every other day.
Here's an example. workout A (for monday).
the order is like this (sorry if confusing). 1.1.1. 2A, 2B, 2a, 2b, 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b, 3a, 3b....etc.
1. bulgarian split squat sets: 3, reps 10-12, rest 1 min.
2A. pushup sets: 3, reps 12-15, rest 1 min.
2B. hip raise sets: 3, reps 12-15, rest 1 min.
3A. side plank sets: 3, reps: 30 sec hold, rest 30 secs.
3B. floor Y-T-I raises (position of arms) sets: 3, reps 10, rest 30 sec.
you can google them if you aren't sure what they are.
friend me if you'd like!0
