What is a "spartan workout"?

The name intrigues me!
My gym has a class called "Spartan Workout" and the description is "raw intense training, just like in the old days!"
Has anyone done a spartan workout before?

i am pretty sure it's a killer calisthenics workout done nonstop

could be wrong though
if I am correct, i am hoping they start easy with people because otherwise most will get a heart attack a quarter of the way through0 -
After 300 (to a lesser extent before the movie too, but I started seeing a lot more of it after), everyone's calling things a 'spartan workout'. It just means it's the creators vision of a 'hard core workout'. Often times their are claims it's the exercise the actors did to get in shape for the movie, but I've seen multiple different workouts claim that.
Give it a shot, prepare for something that incorporates intense non-stop cardio conditioning via calisthenics and/or weights and then possibly other stuff as well.
Good luck!0 -
Cool, but I would call my classes a Spartan workout, LOL. We go full 65 minutes non stop of HARD very intense cardio and ab workouts.0
