Just purchased this protein powder and was wondering if anyone uses it? What are your thoughts?
I have never used a protein powder before but my personal trainer has been monitoring my nutrition (I export info from MFP for him) and he is saying my protein needs to increase to at least 120g a day, if not 140g. So I thought I would try one of these out, I am not a body builder by any means, I meet with my trainer 3 x a week for 60 minutes and we do strength training.
Any insight on the pros/cons of protein powder? I was thinking of just taking it on the days that I meet with my trainer as I sometimes struggle with eating that much protein...thanks for your insight.

a protein powder is a supplement and does just that, supplements your diet with protein. It is useful if you have trouble meeting your protein needs through whole foods alone.0

I found it impossible to meet my protein needs with food alone. I much prefer real food, but it just wasn't feasible and I'd rather ensure I get a sufficient supply of that nutrient than be a purist.
Personally, I've used Optimum Nutrition and also Jay Robb - both whey. These seemed to have the most protein (24g a scoop) without added junk.0 -
what acg said ..
I use EAS Whey protein mixed w/8 oz of milk .. sometimes I get crazy and throw in a banana0 -
I use Whey Protein too to supplement my meals some days.. I did protein shakes for about 30 days, and it really helped me adjust to eating smaller meals. and if i've had a few days where I ate over 100g of carbs a day, I balance it with a couple of days of Breakfast/Lunch Shake days..0

OK thanks. I guess I associated this with body building types and was a bit intimidated...thanks for the input. I'm going to dive in and see how it goes!!0
