What can I do to get rid of grays!!!

They keep popping out like crazy and I have black hair (in my pic it was highlighted so it didnt show grays but I cant always highlight my hair as it damages horribly with black hair). I'm 38 (started around 36 i would say) for goodness sakes! I got it colored again a week before Thanksgiving. Really? Do I have to color it every 6 weeks to keep it hidden.
