Chocolate Breakfast to die for

A lot of people don't like oatmeal and a lot of people don't like the taste of protein shakes, but I love both! They're just so filling and satisfying and that's what I look for in a meal.

Chocolate is one of the few things which I was sad to cut down on, but when I made breakfast this morning, I was surprised to have a huge portion of what tasted like chocolate pudding!

Let's get down to the ingredients:
Nestle - Oats - Milo, 30 g - 115 cal
Ladybird Brand - Protein Shake - Chocolate 30g, -117 cal
2/3 cup water

Oh yes, you heard right! Milo Oatmeal. I don't know if you guys have seen this around, but when I saw it I obviously needed to buy it! Especially at only 115 calories a serving.

I must warn you though, last time I had this Milo Oatmeal it didn't satisfy me until lunch because I'm used to my protein for breakfast these days. However, today when I mixed it with a sachet of protein powder, well now I feel satisfied!!

Steps:
1. Mix the oatmeal and protein powder together in a small bowl
2. Pour in half a cup of water
3. Microwave for aprox. 60 seconds
4. Stir and pour in the rest of the water
5. Microwave for another 30 seconds
6. Mix really, really well!
7. Enjoy satisfying chocolate heaven.: drinker:

Like I said, I love the taste of protein and oatmeal so I was fine having this with only water, but I can imagine it'd have a much creamier consistency and a more authentically chocolate feel with milk in place of water. I might try that next time.

If you have tried something similar to this, expand our horizons and let us know what else you might have added! :)

Looking forward to hear what you all think!

They don't sell Nestle Milo oatmeal at my grocery store :( Any ideas on what would be a good substitute since I have NO idea what is in it?

They sell some sort of Nestle Milo drink mix, but I don't think that is the same thing :P

It basically looks like regular Oatmeal with around 1-2 spoons of the milo drink mix on top! I guess you could put any of the 'healthier' chocolate drink mixes in before you microwave and it'll still turn out! It adds a bit of sweetness that you wouldn't get if you just mixed in protein powder + plain oats.

Oh yay! Thanks for clarifying! I can use some kind of regular Quaker Oatmeal or something then? Or are straight oats better? :)

Would chocolate Ready Brek work? I can get Milo here in NZ - just for those that can't. I'm not sure if Quaker do anything similar either. Sounds a great idea though - protein shakes are fab to fill you up :)

I add a Tbsp of peanut butter to my oatmeal and sprinkle about half a Tbsp of mini chocolate chips on top. Tastes like a warm peanut butter cookie for breakfast and keeps me full. It comes in at around 285 calories.

    Mix:
    1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
    1 cup water
    1 tsp brown sugar

Microwave for 2 min 45 sec

Stir in 1 Tbsp peanut butter and sprinkle 1/2 Tbsp mini chocolate chips on top and enjoy!
