I have not lost a single pound over the last month, and in fact, the scale has crept up 1.5 lbs. Prior to this month, I was being naughty and eating only 1000 cals (suggested for me is 1200). I lost weight for a while doing this, but then it just stalled out completely. So I thought I would do as this site suggests and bump it back up to 1200. With my exercise calories, I now eat around 1550 a day, and I've been doing this for a month. Now my weight is going up :explode: Did I mess up my metabolism with the 1000 cal hoohah? I've started Jillian's Shred along with working out on the treadmill, but the results are disheartening at this stage...bah.

First off, eating below 1200 is not wise (unless you are itty-bitty).
Are you eating ALL of your exercise calories? Perhaps that is too many for you. Maybe only eating back a portion will help you lose again.
Also, keep an eye on you nutrient ratios (carbs, fats, proteins)... that can play a big role in fat loss.0 -
it's normal to gain weight when you up your calories after a period of eating way too few. Give your body time to adjust, it's confused now.0

My opinion - If you are supposed to east around 1200 to lose ( i'm there) then if you exercise and then eat back those calories you are defeating the purpose of exercise. I try to only eat back minimum amount . this way i can not just maintain but actually lose weight. Eating helathy foods is key to success. I must admit that the candy bar i ate yesterday was terrific. Once in a while is not a death sentence. THink lifestyle change and eat healthy.0

when you eat at 1200 cals a day you are already at a deficit. exercising makes your deficit larger, sometimes dangerously so (esp. if you are eating as low as 1200 already). eating exercise cals back will not cause you to maintain, it will help you to lose at a healthy rate instead of an unhealthy one.0 -
Do you have an idea how long it takes your body to readjust?0

honestly? nope. But everyone's body is different. I'd say stick with what you're doing for 2 weeks or so and DON'T touch the scale at all until then. Then hop on and see if anything has changed. At 1200 net cals a day, you won't gain weight under normal circumstances. Keep revving up your metabolism with exercise and keep fueling your body and you WILL see results :flowerforyou:0 -
