Death by scale.

So, I thought I was doing well, and I wanted to be able to see the difference, but my scale wasn't very consistent, and it wasn't digital, and (being quite blind) I was never able to read it very well; only if it was on a 10 lb increment line.

So I decided to go out and buy a digital one, so I could actually see my progress.

BAD IDEA.

Turns out, on an accurate scale, I actually weigh MORE than I thought. Great! Inspirational!

So I had to put my weight even higher today, and see the progress line go up, instead of down, even though I've been working so hard.

I miss my old, bad scale! At least then I could hope!

That is soooo familiar to me! I always weighed in on my Mom's scale since I don't own one, and found it fluctauated quite a bit, so I lived in blissful ignorance, until I went to visit a friend. After a trip to the little girls room, I noticed a lovely digital scale, so I got on. I was horrified. I was a good 6 lbs heavier than I've ever been. It was a huge wake up call, and the start of a journey that led me here. So, I guess what I'm saying is, maybe the accuracy is scary but for me....HUGE motivation to quite literally get off my butt! I've only lost two pounds so far but my victories have been many so far!!

I feel better than I have in years! I started walking and taking tae kwon do classes. The tae kwon do classes are great not only for excercise but I found a supportive little family there as well. The biggest victory for me is the example I'm setting for my kids. My eleven year old daughter especially. I didn't tell her that I was making a lifestyle change but she's noticed! Yesterday she said, ' Wow, you're turning into quite an apple monster Mama!' The other day, while drawing with friends she drew a page full of fruits and vegetables. When my son asked what she was drawing, she idly said, ' Makin' Mama's new food.' ! At school two days ago, instead of buying cookies for dessert, she got pears!! If I never lose another pound, eating well and working out, is sooo worth it because of the way I feel ,and the benefits for my kids!

 That's really awesome, I'm so happy for you and your family.

And it definitely was a motivator, I burned 500 calories in exercise yesterday!

And this morning? It's saying I'm down to where I thought I was. Haha. So, oh well.

Yea, it could have just been water weight, I suppose.
