So if you have a Polar FT4 I'd really appreciate your help with something :flowerforyou:

I liked the fact that I could change the battery on this model myself. When my battery died recently I took it out and *THOUGHT* I ordered more of it online. (3v CR2032). When they came, I was dismayed to find they were the wrong ones ... too big.

By this time I couldn't find my original battery ... I left it on the table and think it may have gotten thrown out because someone didn't know what it was. I checked my manual for advice as well as the Polar website, but there were no specs. So I got back on line and found a site that specified they had the battery for Polar FT4s (3v CR1632). I ordered these, and they are too SMALL.

I'm pretty frustrated. I can take it to a fitness equipment or a battery store for their expert guidance but I live in the boonies and it would be an hour round trip ... I suppose I can look for a phone number in my manual and call the Polar company now that I think about it, but since I already have this typed out  , I'll just ask you guys. If you have a Polar FT4 and can tell me the exact battery it uses I'd really appreciate it!

    I have an FT4.

Unfortunately I am at work so I am unable to tell you the exact battery.

I will tell you that I was able to get one at my local Radio Shack instead of ordering one online.

That's what I'm hoping for, Dani - I just ordered the original one on line because it was there. If I have the code I'll just go buy one wherever. If only my dumb butt wouldn't have lost track of the original one, LOL ... Thanks, lady ... xo

I bought mine from walmart in the watch section, it's like $5. I have an FT4. It's the same battery that comes in the chest strap piece. The Coded 31 snap on module. It's a CR1632 (Just looked). There is a sealing ring as well, that was a little black o-ring that I hope you didn't lose or you will have to order it from Polar. Which makes me wonder since you said the battery is too small. I've replaced both of these batteries in my HRM so the CR1632 do fit.

That is really weird ...... The batteries I got that are labeled CR1632 are way too small. They just rattle around in the battery chamber! I know the original one fit snugly in there. I wonder if I have an older model and it uses a different size or something.

I couldn't seem to get my chest strap piece open or I'd have taken a peek in there. Maybe I need to try again.

    Thanks for your help, JRC!

back of your chest strap piece should have a slot to stick like a quarter in and turn.

I will look again in a bit but I think the ring is what seals it in place...

See image... (battery model isn't on the battery right but this is an image of a Polar replacement kit.

that is the ring I'm hoping you hadn't lost.

I have the FT4 as well and had to change the batteries. Found that the chest strap uses the 2025 which I found at Staples and the watch uses the smaller 1632 which I had to get at Radio Shack.

Well, many thanks to all of you

I just got my strap piece opened and as Tobi said, it had the 2025. I put the 1632 in my watch and closed it up. The watch seems to run on it even though I thought for SURE that the one I took out had a larger diameter - as I stated, the 1632 is much smaller than the compartment and the one I took out was a snug fit (I do have the rubber ring, or at least *A* rubber ring ... maybe there were two pieces to the ring??).

    *shrug*

Well, maybe I'm crazy ... we'll see how it goes. Thanks again!
