I didn't know where to post this, but it made me angry - so I'm going to ask you lot!!

I want to go to the gym to tone up - and I really don't know what I am doing so I posted on my gym's Facebook page asking if anyone can help me. A guy answered saying that he trains/lifts 3 mornings a week and works on all muscle groups, he said that I was more than welcome to join him at the gym to follow his regime. I said that would be great - start on Monday. OK - all done.

I told my boyfriend and he is kicking off! Saying 'why do guys start talking to girls in gyms? - to hit on them' - and it REALLY pissed me off. I don't have a clue when it comes to lifting weights and at least a few sessions with someone who does it all of the time and knows what works will help me!

Am I being weird about it?

I think you're boyfriend is overreacting a bit. Not knowing the particulars (does he work out with you? can he and would he be willing to provide you with help?) makes it difficult to provide advice.

There's also no way to know for sure if the gym guy is actually trying to hit on you, or genuinely wants to help you with your fitness routine... at least not until Monday. Seriously, everyone should take a chill pill until then. It's not like you arranged to meet some random guy at a hotel for "fitness instruction".

reverse the situation...would you want your boyfriend working out with some other woman he met on fb? please
  • I agree... if your boyfriend has such an issue... he should pay for you to have a personal trainer for a couple of months to get you in a routine...your gym should be able to hook you up... sure there are women that could help you.

He doesn't work out with me, I'm always going to the gym on my own. All I wanted was some help, because there are no women who lift in my gym - all I ever see is the guys - so I was generally just asking for some help.

    Oh well.
