How do I avoid the hunger and temptation in the car going a long distance , especially passing by places like Starbucks, or Carl's Jr.? I know that they have low cal choices. But , I seem to crave the high calorie foods.

take a pot of something healthy, like cherry tomatoes, or carrot sticks. know it's still eating, but surely far better than stopping off for something. you could also try sugar free chewing gum, and distract yourself by listening to your favourite songs, although, sometimes, you do just need to munch.. :)

I always have healthy snacks in my purse. Almonds and clif bars are there all the time. That way you have something to eat when you are truly hungry. If it's just boredom, you'll have to figure something else out there!

Take good snacks with you and a thermos of your favorite coffee brewed at home. OR---allow yourself a 'skinny' drink from Starbucks without asking for a pastry. My fave is the skinny peppermint mocha. It's low cal and they make it with sugar free syrup. My snack of the moment that I keep in the car is Nature Valley honey oat crunchy granola bars.

Good luck! Could always put a post it on your steering wheel that says "NO FAST FOOD" !

    Drink lots of water.

hahaha that could be a recipe for a wet seat if you follow both of those very strictly.

I personally enjoy beef jerky on long trips. A little bit lasts a long time and it's pretty low calorie but it is high in sodium.
  • Break the habit of eating in the car. Do not view your vehicle as a dining room. Do take lots of water with you always.
