Hi all, I'm not really new to the site but I'm new to the forums *little wave* .

I joined the site after last year, as a freshmen in college, I realized one night I'd had cookies for breakfast, pizza and a cheesecake for lunch, and a hot dog and an entire bag of candy for dinner. Now that I'm recording what I eat I'm doing so much better!

I have a question about fruits and vegetables! Some days I will eat a normal, healthy, balanced set of meals but then I'll still be hungry afterwards and so I'll sit down with like a bag of carrots or some snap peas or an apple or something. Now, I sometimes go way over how many calories I should have, but it's all in fruits and vegetables. will that make me gain weight? I feel like veggie calories wouldn't do the same thing that it would if it were like, bread or french fries. Sorry if it's a dumb question!

I would think exceeding any calories above those lost in excercise and above base metabolic rate would cause an increase in weight. Although you are limiting your calories to healthy cals, and not fatty type calories. So, yes you may gain some additional sugars, but not fats, very very little cholesterol, and vast amounts of vitamins and minerals

Eating like that is fine! Vegetables are fine, eat as many as you like, fruit however have lots of sugar so eat lots but keep track of your calories at the same time, its easy to go over your calorie goal with fruit because you trick yourelf into thinking it "doesnt count".

As long as you exercise you should be losing weight with all that healthy eating!

However, make sure that for your main meals you eat some carbs and protein, theyre higher calories than fruit and veggies but they'll fill you up and limit your snacking, so your overall calorie intake will be lower.

Add me if youd like a friend for support!

Okay, thank you all for the advice I'll eat as many veggies as I want but stay away from too many fruits then. :)

I think calories are calories. In my opinion if you eat 5000 calories of carrots a day you will gain weight (not to mention turn orange).
