So I was bored today and decided to try an experiment. Since hot cocoa mix was buy one get one free last week, I had quite a few packets to spare. I also had a big tub of plain greek yogurt sitting in my fridge. For some reason I randomly decided to try mixing the two since I hate the taste of plain greek yogurt. I mixed one envelope of cocoa mix into one cup of yogurt. It tasted pretty good as it was but then it occurred to me I should try to freeze it, then it would be like ice cream. So I split it into half cup servings and popped it into the freezer for a few hours. Well, let's just say the experiment was a success. It was delicious! The stats aren't bad either.

The store I was at didn't have any of the diet cocoa mix left when I was there, so imagine if you used that instead! I just thought it was a really simple somewhat healthy little treat that was too good not to share. (: Enjoy!

    Thanks for the idea!

    I tweeked it a little. I used protein powder and added a scoop of my super foods powder to it. It tasted pretty good unfrozen when I taste tested it. Hopefully it will be frozen by the time I get back from the gym and make dinner. It will make a nice desert for a couple nights=D

    This also works great with pudding mixes... I like sugar-free pistacchio or cheesecake and I add chopped walnuts or chia seeds and its yummy with or without freezing. I use the cocoa or various protein powders quite often too. Adding fruit works too!

    I buy big containers of Fage 0% plain greek yogurt and doctor it up with the above and freeze some in individual servers so I can just grab for a snack. (easier to track on mfp too if you make a recipes and #servings...I call mine Fage-O-Rama)

    Thanks for this tip. I've tried using plain yogurt with ranch dressing (dry) mix instead of sour cream and I strongly disliked it so now I'm stuck with a big old tub of plain yogurt and have been randomly adding it to frozen fruit but the taste is tart...just not my cup of tea. I'll try this little trick....
    Thank you :flowerforyou:

    I do
    1c full-fat greek yogurt;
    1 scoop protein powder;
    1 tbsp of cocoa;
    1 tbsp splenda;
    and 0.5 c blackberries or raspberries.

    It's totally decadent, and perfect for Paleo. I like it warmed up to room temp, but frozen sounds awesome.

    For low-fat diets, of course get the lowfat yogurt, but the protein powder will be slightly gritty in the lowfat yogurt.

    What did I do wrong? I mixed fage with a Cadbury hazelnuts sachet and now it's so frozen I can't get into it
