Interval training?

I have lost 24lbs so far and have seem to hit a plateau. I have about 17 more lbs. to lose. Someone mentioned I should start doing interval training. How should I do this?

Like run as fast as I can for 30 seconds and then walk for 1 min. and keep repeating?

Any suggestions?!

    high intensity interval training..there are different types. or you can create your own.
