There wasn't an official "recipe" for these, that I could find, but as a pizza lover I wanted to just post them. I have NO self-control when it comes to pizza so these have helped me kick that pizza craving without killing my calories.
1 Whole wheat english muffin OR whole wheat pita bread
1/2 cup "sauce"- or less (tomato-seasoned, spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, alfredo, ranch, etc)
1/3-1/2 cup cheese (lower fat mozzarella, pizza blend, etc) - May use more for pita then muffins
Toppings (pepperonis, canadian bacon, veggies, pineapple, chicken, etc)
1. Turn oven on to broil.
2. Split english muffin and place on baking sheet. (Using pitas: simply place on cooking sheet.)
3. Put suace on muffin or pita (the amount will vary depending on which you use).
4. Place toppings and cheese on crust.
5. Put pan in oven and broil for several minutes, until cheese is melted.
Serves: 1
Not including Nutritional info due to variances in items used!
Tips: Not in a rush... turn oven to 350 degrees and cook slowly until cheese is melted.

This is great on a whole wheat bagel also!!0
-
Another variation is to use naan bread or for "crispy" crust melba toasts0
-
Works on whole wheat tortillas too.
Stupid question, but where would I find pita bread in the grocery store? I've looked and can't find it.0 -
I find it over by the deli meat counter.
Sometimes in the bakery.0 -

my family loves pita pizza! I will have to try them on english muffins0

Damascus Bakeries makes a Flax roll-up that has replaced pitas for my pizzas. I find mine at Costco and it's delish!0
-
I bought some english muffins the other day, knowing I had seen a recipe for something that I wanted to make... but couldn't remember what it was. This was it! Thanks for reminding me0

I love making these!
I use one whole wheat pita, some leftover spaghetti sauce, one slice of mozzarella cheese (which is the perfect size for a pita), and whatever leftover veggies I have piled on.
Thanks for the post! :happy:0 -

Wait, CB, I love you and all, but you needed a recipe for these?0 -
Nooooo....BUT others may, it's called being nice!
Besides, have you ever tried to teach high school students how to make an "English Muffin Pizza?"
TRUST ME, you will want a recipe, even if it seems easy.0 -

LOL, I'm just not sure that
sauce, cheese, english muffin --> broil till the cheese melts
really needs one.
(I love getting you all bothered! )0 -

Ha! Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to you.
You may think it's silly, but I've seen some sad cases of people who don't know how to cook, at all.
So, mock me all you want.... I am getting used to it. :huh:0 -
It is sad what some of us take for granted and teach our kids. I use to work as an aide so I know some of what you go through.
Thank you for the work that you do touching young peoples lives.0 -

Besides, who will I email when I need help if you piss me off?0 -

lol, prolly my wife, she'd give you plenty of buttons to push (which is why you would have to pry her email address out of my cold dead hands.) :ohwell:0 -
