hey! my name is ellie and i am 19 from canberra!
i've lost 15 kg's so far, planning on losing another 15-25 depending on how i feel at the time.
i have been working in fast food since i was 14 so i totally feel your pain and how annoying the free food can be!

feel free to add me if you would like :)
  • Hi Michelle!

I'm Amber, also Australian (from Sydney) - I'm 29 and have lost and gained the same 10ish kg's about couple of times in the past 5 years or so! lost it last year for my best friends wedding in Sep but have since gained it back - Hopeless I know! (and before that gained it travelling, hence having to lose it for the wedding!)
I am serious this year thou, no more yo-yo-ing for me! :)

What is your plan? Do you have one, haha?

I do a combo of calorie counting and training (bootcamp & jogging) - I know I can lose it, its just about getting there over the next couple of months and then maintaining it :-)

    Good luck!! :-)

Hi there. I'm from Brisbane. I worked at MacDonald's on both front counter, drive through, and McCafe. I snagged lots of discount coffee, because Maccas won't give out freebies. But that said, I gained so much weight working there. I ended up taking Xenical in order to try and avoid eating the wrong foods. That and I started Optifast as well. The Optifast was gross, but the Xenical meant I didn't eat chips in about 12 months out of fear of the nasty side effects.

I lost about 5 kilos doing that, and then got pregnant. I didn't exercise, as it had always been my enemy. My advice would be try and find time to exercise. I have a three year old and will be starting full time teaching work, so my time is limited. I will be trying though. If I can give it a go, I know you can. Xenical is about $2 oper tablet to be taken three times a day. Optifast tastes gross, but there may be better tasting alternatives out there.

I'm taking Nature's way Slimright with some fruit and that's a 300 calorie meal that keeps me full,. especially when taken with fibre.

    hey guys
its so nice to hear from all of you guys, its comforting knowing people are in the same situation.
i have some work friends as well who have out on weight from working in fast food so it cant just be us.
my plan is to exercise 30-40mins a day and stay under my calorie goal not over.
i have been doing zumba for wii and my fitness coach for wii both have helped.
i also go for a walk round our towns lake which is 4.5ks at least once a week on a night off.
i have also recently changed from eating pizza or pasta four nights a week that i work to salad, pizza, pasta and salad again. and i get the pizza and pasta with less cheese.i have been doing this since about half way through last year and it helps.
what i find hard is motivation and finding the time. i lost heaps of motivation and idint log on to MFP for a few weeks ,when i was working two jobs and one of them was just awful. anyway i have since not worked there for three weeks and im feeling much better even if my bank balance isnt ha ha ha.
    thats enough about me.
good luck to everyone! add me if you want im just getting used to this community stuff ha ha

    Hiya!
I am 29 from Perth... Am new to this site. Only started 3 days ago... so fingers crossed I can stick to it! Am in the same boat, with having a job that enables bad eating.. but I am going to try and plan ahead and bring my own food to work, and learn to say no to the not good food! Best of luck with managing your eating at your job!

  • Ooh, so many cute kitties in the avatars! <3

I'm another Aussie girl - I'm 27, from Sydney, and looking to lose about 10kg. I started MFP at a pretty silly time - I'm on placement in a rural community with no cooking facilities and working up to 17 hour days - oh, and I'm sick. So I'm below my calorie goal just from not getting time to eat (not deliberately), and have had no time at all to exercise - unless being on my feet all day counts. I'm going back to 'real life' (and my own kitties!) at the end of the week, and hoping to eat better (rather than just 'less') and get in a regular exercise routine then. Check out my profile, and feel free to add me if you're interested! :)
