I've had cracked heels since I was in high school and found a solution to it but they've always came back ( at night us a stridex pad on your heels, cover in eucersrin, sp?, and put socks on and in 7 days your heels are better) but it's a little expensive too, i use a pedegg but it doesnt take all the cracks away and sometimes it hurts my heels.
Do any of ya'll have some cheap solutions, or any ideas why I get these cracks on my heels? it's quite embarrassing.

Exfoliate, put Vaseline on your heels and socks over night. Much cheaper.0

This. But it could also be a fungal infection. Use an antifungal cream in the morning and Vaseline at night. If you don't clear up the infection it will never get better.0 -
I suffer from dry skin on my feet and cracked heels too, just keep a regular routine of filing the skin down and moisturising, the best foot file I've found is the Leighton Denny one!0

Try African shea butter.. it works wonders.. you can buy it on amazon.com...It is just raw shea butter.. put that on everynight with socks when you go to bed and it will heal those heels.:)0

Another option.... exfoliate how ever you wish (sugar scrub, ped egg, file etc), wash and dry the feet. Apply EVOO to the feet and wrap in plastic wrap or put each foot in a plastic bag, put on some socks. You can do this overnight if you wish, I usually do this after I get home from a spa pedi and am just kicking it at home. Your feet stay soft for days.
As for the cracked heels... when I was a kid my entire family had this problem. All of my brothers (5) were heavily involved in school sports....locker rooms....foot fungus.... home shower and tub....everyone got it. The only way we got rid of it was by using bleach. We would soak our feet for 15 minutes in hot bleach water every other day. Of course the shower/tubs got bleached as well. As an adult I occasionally get cracked heels in the summer, usually after being on vacation (hotel showers?) or using public showers at beaches or pools. When I get home I use the bleach for about a week and the heel cracks start to heal up. I use 1/8 c bleach to 2 quarts of hot water.0 -
If you have other dry skin, like your hands or scalp, you may need to look at increasing your fats and protein in your diet.
I agree with all the above, and if it is athlete's foot, you need the anti-fungal cream from the drug store. It is over-the-counter. It's a common problem you can catch from other people at a gym or locker room. Always wear flip flops or some type of shoes in damp, common areas where other people are barefoot.0 -
Wear socks.
It's a super-dry climate where I live and in the summer, as soon as I start wearing sandals, my feet get dry and cracked (and HURT where the cracks are DEEP). I have tried the lotion/vaseline and wearing socks at night - which does work. But, the biggest difference is wearing socks nearly all the time.
If you live in a much warmer climate where you are in bare feet a lot, I suspect this is part of the cause.0
