Now that I have your attention:
I continue to have great success with MFP, but my wife is stalled out, and has been since 3 January.
She reviewd her diary, and determined that she should raise her calorie intake a little, which she did this week.
She continues to exercise, she doesn't cheat on her diary, yet gained a pound.
Her user name is dana01996, and her diary is open to all.
Can anyone in our vast base of MFP knowledge-holders make any suggestions to help?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I didn't look at the diary because I don't know nearly as much about foods as many other people around here.

However, my only suggestion is that she could be gaining muscle from working out. Maybe she's actually losing fat, but as it's replaced with muscle the scale isn't moving. That's what's been happening to me and it's very frustrating. What I do is take measurements and pictures to measure my progress. I can definitely see a difference there :) Give that a try!

    I would re-vamp your diet a little.

I like that the bulk of your calories are in the morning - but I would try a higher protein diet.

    Breakfast:
    1/2 cup Egg Whites
    1/2 cup of Oatmeal
    1/2 cup of Organic Berries

    Snack:
    Protein Shake
    1/2 serving Almonds
    Apple

    Lunch:
    4 oz Lean Protein (Chicken)
    1/2 cup Brown Rice
    Veggies!

    Snack:
    Protein Shake
    1 TBSP Peanut Butter
    Fruit

    Dinner:
    4 - 6 oz Lean Protein
    1 Sweet Potato
    Veggies!

Try this for a week - im willing to bet you will def drop some lbs!

There seems to be quite a few days where she is over in carbs and considerably over in sugar. These are some things that I try to be aware of, especially because I consider MFP to be fairly high in the carb count anways. Good luck :)

The only thing that really jumps out at me is that she's eating more sugar for breakfast every day than she is allowed to have for the entire day.

I tend to go over on sugar some days too but never by a lot.

    Just something to think about.

i only went back a few days but its pretty obvious that she is going over on most things every day, especially sugar! it would also be interesting to see how high the sodium is. i would definatly cut out the creamer and pickles to start.

It's probably hormonal. A 1lb gain is hardly anything and doesn't necessarily have to be fat.

How do you feel in yourself? Are you skirts/jeans/blouses any tighter? If not, then probably just need to give it a few weeks, but don't give up. You've lost 26lbs already and sometime your body just decides to take a break. I'm not a doctor, a scientist nor a dietician. But I've had a couple of blips, noting too serious, but thankfully, I don't have to go through the cycle of hormones that women do.

The # on the scales is not the be-all and end-all. Unless you'er pumping serious weights, I doubt it's muscle gain.

Now, if you were following the program and eating a deficit while exercising and still gaining weight, week on week, then I'd say get yourself checked out. But give it another 2-3 weeks and see how you get on.

Maybe go out for a pizza or something else you like but haven't had for a while because you think it's too many calories. I've found I lose more the weeks I have spike days... but that might just be how my body copes.

Good luck and great that you've got a loving husband who cares for you! :flowerforyou:
  • First, your diary looks great. You are eating very sensibly. My only suggestion (and I am not a doctor), might be to change up the foods you are eating. I did notice you eat a lot of the same foods day to day. Also, possibly changing your exercise routine to include different types of exercise. :)

More great suggestions. We'll be taking measurements, because we both are noticing changes, and need to quantify so that we can have a NSV to work with. We're both concerned with the "stall" on the scale.

Measurements make things better, as I suspected, resulting in a dramatic reduction in body fat percentage.
We'll still look for weight loss, but not so frantically now.
We will be taking these suggestions to heart. Thanks so much for all your help!

Yes, body fat percentage is a great thing to measure. That's what I'm going to start paying attention to as well, rather than the scale. Good luck! :flowerforyou:

I definitely think you did the right thing by upping your intake a little--I thought I had been eating enough at 1600, but I was stalled and upped it, this morning I had lost three pounds! A one pound gain is hardly anything to worry about, but if you're really worried, maybe try cutting back the fat and sugar? If you look at mine, I'm not one to talk, but it could help.

What is her workout like, does it include weight lifting? As I was looking at her diary, I really don't see anything wrong with it at all - actually its looks lots similar like mine. The next question is - how is the water intake?

Water intake is way better than mine, mostly running as a workout ( although slowed for a couple weeks from injury), and no weightlifting, I don't think.
