How do you approach your workout routine?

Not sure I asked that right but I cant think how better to phrase it. Im talking when you go about working out do you do like upper body one day and lower body the next? Total body everyday? Do you focus more on core exercises? Do you do those everyday or like every other day?
I know alot about the eating aspects despite my recent entries. Im just foggy on the exercise. Normally I just do massive cleaning and walking and playing with the kids. I mean real playing. Like football and soccer, tag or whatever gets me running and moving hard core....
However, its winter now and I dont do well in the winter. Arthritis has set into my bones from when I broke my legs. Im stiff and uncomfortable most of the time now so I want to focus on lower impact stuff. I have the Biggest Loser workout plan. And Im sure they have a guildeline in there somewhere. I just havent found it yet.
