THIS is totally my downfall as well! I do fine throughout the day and then the evenings have become 'hideous' for me. For me I have got to get back on track with planning meals a day ahead of time. If not I am inclined to eat whatever is easy which is rarely the right choice for me.
Failing to Plan= Planning to Fail
Good Luck0 -
This may sound silly, but I chew gum in the evenings. It really helps.0

I also a bigtime gum chewer. Extra gum has some devilous good dessert flavors. Chocolate mint ice cream. If u are a fan of orange dreamsicles they also have that flavor at only 5 calories0

Here is what I do: eat right up to bedtime.
I must, because the cravings set in if I don't, and I'll toss sleeplessly until I cave in.
BIG TIME PIG TIME!
No more of that.
So, I eat my last little, healthy meal right at 9pm, then hit the hay 30 minutes later.
I guess this beats the alternative.0 -
I also do this. Potato chips and chocolate are my downfall. I will even put off going to bed so I can have something.
I really need some tips on how to overcome this!!!0 -

I get like this some night, and when it gets really bad, I go to bed!!! Everyone can use some more sleep, and I forget about the cravings, cause its usually "bored" cravings0

This is the hardest for me, too, and I really love reading all these different strategies! The evening is the one time during the day that I get to do what I want without being at my job or my other job (mommy), so I often feel like I "deserve" to indulge. I can only get through it by doing two things.
1) I budget myself a nice, sweet snack for a few hours after dinner, such as low fat yogurt or an apple with a little peanut butter.
2) I FORCE myself to log my calories, and then hit the "completed" button. After that, if I get cravings, the only thing that works for me is some Lemon Ginger tea (by yogi). It's spicy, settles the tummy, and has a bit of sweetness from something (anise?) without any sweeteners. Sometimes I'll have a fiber gummy too if I really feel like I'll be hungry during the night or I feel "bitey" like I want to chew something.
Good luck! Thanks for starting the thread.
