so I have a relatively simple Timex Heart Rate Monitor

today was the first time I wore it during my big Sunday workout day.

I usually bike 20 total miles and do 90 minutes of Yoga.
I had been using MFP's estimates on calories burned but this time tried wearing the HRM.

walking - same calorie amounts
biking - hugely different by hundreds of calories (the HRM said I burned way more calories than MFP)
yoga - similar amount

should I go with the HRM or with MFP?

HRM, how would MFP know what your heart rate is when you're working out???

In my experience, Timex overestimates. I had a pretty simple one too and it told me for walking on a treadmill at a speed of 3.0, incline of 10 for 30 minutes, that I burned 580 calories.. I think not.

I personally would go with MFP over Timex, but thats just my opinion. Others think they are accurate.. but I don't believe so.

HRM always wins out for me.

My weight, age, and gender is stored in mine and it has the chest strap.

I think MFP is good if you don't have a HRM, before I got mine I used the one on here. Since using the HRM, I've noticed that MPF overcompensate on some activities and undercompensate on others.

    Hope that helps.

HRM. MFP overestimates like CRAZY for me. My HRM seems much more accurate for sure. It's probably better to underestimate than overestimate imo.

so I just realized I didnt enter in my info currently into the HRM so I am going back to the lower MFP numbers. I will use it a bit this week on bike rides and see how they compare.
will have to try again next sunday though to see how wrong it was today.
