So I just got done reading The Hunger Games and it was excellent! I'm really excited to see the movie in a couple months but I really hope it doesn't disappoint me like so many other book-to-films have in the past. The trailer looks promising, but don't they always? I almost held off on reading it until after I see the movie so that I could go watch it with no expectations but that never works out for me, for I am a nerdy bookworm of the worst kind.

What's the best of these that you have seen?

Of the ones that I read the book FIRST and then saw the movie, recently the best I think would probably be Water for Elephants. I was very satisfied with that movie.

I just finished the Hunger Games series, too!

I'm really nervous about what the movie is going to be like. I mean....Lenny Kravitz is Cinna, so I have my doubts

I think my favourite book to movie adaptation would have to be Trainspotting. I did watch the movie though before reading the book, so maybe that would explain it. I'm always afraid to watch the film version after reading the book first. I just hate having this perfect vision in my head of how everything is supposed to be, and then being so disappointed when the author and director saw it as something completely different
  • I also read the Hunger Games and can't wait to see how the movie does in comparison. I liked The Help book-to-movie.

Books always seem to be better. The Hunger Games is one of my next reads. I've heard so much about it I can't wait.
  • Oh one other one is Janet Evonovich's Stephanie Plums series of books. I saw the first book "One for the Money" is made into a movie but I wont see it. After reading the first 12 books I already kind of had in my mind who would/could play those characters. I had Sandra Bullock playing the role of Stephanie and to see Katherine Heigl in that role would be odd. Also I had The Rock playing the role of Ranger, not the guy who is casted, nver heard of him.

The Hunger Games movie trailer looks really good, and looks like it actually keeps in line with the book! I'm pumped.

I have not read Hunger Games yet but I hear such great things about it But I would have to agree that Water for Elephants is the best book/movie I have seen/read in a long time.

I would also like to add "My sisters keeper" is the worse movie/book

I came on here to say that Picoult's 'My Sister's Keeper' is my favourite movie/book adaptation. I see someone else has already claimed it as the worst!

Picoult is one of my favourite authors. I absolutely love her work, and My Sister's Keeper is one of my favourites, but the movie used the book as a basis and had a different plot and ending.

I really liked both. I've seen so many books faithfully adapted to film, and some work whilst others fail completely. Watching My Sister's Keeper was like watching one story whilst having a deeper understanding about the characters thanks to a completely different one. It was a totally unique experience for me, and I loved that it was a surprise despite the fact I'd read the book.

Call me old fashioned but if I have to pick favorites.. probably jaws and the client. Lately most books made to movies haven't grabbed my eye. Sorry Harry Potter and Twilight lovers.

i just hate it because it doesn't just stray from the book a little or cut things to save time...in the movie THE WRONG PERSON DIES!!! Just bothers me
