When I ride the stationairy bike I don't hold onto the handles that move along with it if you know what I mean. I just use my legs because it puts more effort on my legs if I don't use my hands. Does anyone else do this? Or am I doing the wrong thing? I need advice.

You're peddling ain't ya? Well, ok then.

My hands are usually busy with the cell phone.

I don't think it matters if your hands are on it or not.

If you want your upper body muscles to get an aerobic workout, then use them.

If you want a bigger calorie burn because of putting more energy into your bigger leg muscles, then don't.

I usually keep my hands on it cause I usually can feel it later in my arms. Plus, I feel like I get a better workout...

I don't see how simply holding on to the handle bars will give your upper body any workout at all. Perhaps it is a workout for those who don't regularly lift heavy weights? I don't know.. I feel nothing by simply holding on to the handlebars...

Well, you are supposed to push and pull. If you are just letting them set there for the ride, then indeed, don't fool yourself and use your hands for something else.
