Is it just me or has anyone else noticed it seems impossible to get the recommended daily potassium intake from your diet?

  • YES! I've only got my goal ONCE!
  • Yes, it is a pain in the butt. I have to take a potassium supplement to even get remarkably close. Good luck!

The goal is too much, I gave up on it a while ago. Screw the charlie horses, eventually I will get supplements.

I find it very difficult and I'm allergic to bananas, which supposedly have a lot. Anyone know of any other really good food sources of potassium?

Those Naked juices have a lot, but they are also really high calorie, so only a good as a treat sometimes.

I just went over last week's entries (didnt log this weekend) and I hit it pretty much every day. I never really payed attention to it but when I went over my meals it seems I was getting a lot from the spinach, cauliflower, and broccoli.

How do you log Potassium on here? Do most of the foods in the databank have Potassium listed on their "goodies"?

Actually, straight after posting my previous reply, I went to settings and mucked around there and found Potassium. Going to see if anything logs under it from now on.

Most foods do not list Potassium on the label in the US. It is not required by the FDA, because deficiencies are so rare.

However, if you are really watching your electrolytes, my last search on this topic revealed that lima beans have a lot of Potassium. Yum! Bananas are ok for it too.

I was surprised to see that coffee has a good bit of potassium.

Ahh same goes for UK too. If nothing appears in that column in my diary after a week, I'll probably remove it.

Must be why I crave coffee all the time. HAHA. I heard peppermint tea has quite a bit too, though it isn't on the labels. *shrug*

User search function people before posting. Nothing wrong in asking but when the question has been answered many many times we could use the time to post something new and discuss something new.
    Here is one:

    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/450253-poor-is-potassium?

    and another one:
    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/450040-potassium-tracking?hl=potassium#posts-6211807

The search function returned to me at least 50 pages of answers about potassium.

Sweet potatoes are pretty loaded with potassium. Not to mention everything else. I once heard that sweet potatoes were the highest nutrient packed food per once found in the produce section!!!
