Amazing workout, I took classes once a week for a year and got a pole for home, loved it as it was so much fun you barely realised you were burning so many calories until the next day when your legs are sore! Great for full body workout as well as it takes a lot of ab strength to do some of the harder moves, have fun :-)

I would love to...and I would challenge anyone to say that this isn't one of the most athletic things they've ever seen. There are gymnasts who couldn't do this and her level of visible muscle tone is something:

It is a great workout. The first time I did it, I was soo sore the next day. That's how you know it was good.
You don't have to take a class, find an empty room at home, then put on some sexy music and just go with it. Don't be embarassed!! The more you get into it, the easier it gets.

Give it a shot, what do you have to loose?

Bump. I've been wanting to do this for a few years now, but all the studios I've seen are super expensive.

Taboo or not, it's an amazing workout (especially for upper body strength). I highly recommend it! Plus it's a lot fo fun!
  • I was going to take a class for this a few months ago with some girls from work, but I'm afraid that I wont be able to do what they ask of me. When you guys took it, what would you say the level of difficulty was?
  • I don't know about calories but it made me SUPER strong especially in arms and core. One of the absolute hardest ever workouts and mega mega fun. I don't think it's taboo anymore. From my own experience, find a place with fixed poles, that's probably the wrong terminology. What I mean is poles that stay in and aren't occasionally attached. Oh and be prepared, it's like gymnastics, waaay harder than it looks. I still suck but I don't care cos it's fun. Oh and if you get into it buy some shaving cream or hairspray to spray on your body, helps you stick. That tip helped me a lot. Hope you find a fun workout.

Edit: just read the last post: I found it very hard. Unless you have exceptional upper body strength it's challenging but I've always found it a supportive and fun environment and if it's a beginner class then EVERYONE will start off being pretty challenged and the teachers won't expect you to be amazing at it straight off. Generally there's always one thing you'll be able to do by the end, even if it's a simple spin. I would push through the self consciousness and worry and give it a go.
  • I looked imto this when I was living in London, but the times for classes clashed with work. I then forgot about it, until now! :drinker: I'm really keen to give it a bash, It looks like a scream and if the girls doing it are anything to go by, well super fit and toned! I'd give anything to look like that. What a fun way to exercise! Thanks for the reminder. Oh and when I was looking into it, the instructer told me you work at your own level. If there's something you cant do , just try your best, practise and you will eventually get it:smile:

I loooove it! I've been doing it for about a year now, as well as burlesque, and its just a beautiful, graceful, and unbelievably sexy way to gain a lot of lean muscle and lots of confidence. I'll warn you though, when you first start out you'll be sore in places you didn't even know existed. >.<
