Since becoming serious in hitting the gym not just cardio- but hitting the weights hard and pushing myself and my muscles- I have become really interested in fitness magazines- I just got Muscle and Fitness Hers- plus some of the common ones like Shape and Fitness--

Im not into power lifting (because I don't like the way it makes a females body look but thats just my opinion) Im more into defined muscles that aren't too big like the Womens Figure models--

But it is great motivation and they have great tips and stuff--

Pick up OnFitness (Barnes and Nobel has it). It's a trainer magazine, but it's awesome. non of the fluff, tons of awesome workout tips, and some really good medical and nutrition articles. A little technical, but you get used to it quick.

Oh, and how does it make us look?

Power lifting is neurological. It doesn't cause bulk. It causes changes in the nerves. Often times powerlifters are thicker because they don't focus on dieting. But there are plenty of wiry powerlifters out there.

Oh I do the same exact thing- I don't talk about fitness with just anyone though- except people that are doing it- because I think its a little pointless to talk about what I do at the gym and all they can tell me is what they ate lol--

I get excited like a kid in a candy shop when my favorite mags come. M&F Women, Oxygen, and Women's Health Mags. I've ripped out exercises, put them in plastic and sorted them by body part into a binder. I have sheets then that I keep track of all the different ones I do. Yes, I'm an organiztion freak...:drinker:

lol I too really enjoy W&F and Women's Health and a couple others...I don't buy them on a regular basis, as each one is so packed full I can get so much out a magazine like that for quite awhile. I agree I too like the pull out sections you can take with. I keep mine sorted too.:drinker:

I used to compete in bodybuilding competions. I am not into that anymore (I'm 40....just want to keep my joints working as well as possible), but muscle is what gives people their shape!

The first and second biggest muscle groups in a body: Quads and Glutes! Everyone (men AND women) should be hitting the squat rack once a week for that great...um.....buttock!

Keep up the work! Set your goal with women/men who are "natural." You just can't beat a well defined shoulder and arm combination! (Don't even get me started on a great pair of legs!!!!)

That's a really good idea. I think I shall try that. But instead of tearing them out, I think I'm going to scan them to computer and then print them out and then put them in a binder or something.

    Yes!!
    Barbell staight leg dead lift:

Stand with a shoulder width or narrower stance. Bend knees and bend over with lower back straight. Grasp barbell with a shoulder width overhand or mixed grip, shoulder width or slightly wider. Lift weight to standing position.

With knees straight, lower bar toward the top of the feet by bending hips. After hips can no longer flex, bend waist as bar approaches top of feet. Lift bar by extending waist and hip until standing upright. Pull shoulders back slightly if rounded. Repeat.

    Good Morning Hamstrings:
Position barbell on back of shoulders and grasp bar to sides.

Bend hips to lower torso forward until parallel to the floor. Raise torso until hips are extended. Repeat.

Standing Leg curl using a cable:

Attach ankle cuff to low pulley. With cuff on one ankle, grasp ballet bar with both hands and step far back with other foot. Elbows remain straight to support body leaning forward. Attached foot is stretched off floor.

Pull cable attachment by flexing knee while flexing hip slightly until knee is fully flexed. Return by straightening knee and lowering knee slightly to original position. Repeat. Continue with opposite leg.

Sorry I had to google it because I don't know the names and I suck at explaining what to do but you can do this with dumbells, cables, or barbells
