If your microwave dosen't have a button for potatoes and/or your missing your microwave manual try this. I usually pock holes with a fork on all sides and put in the microwave for 10-15 min depending on size.
Hope that helps0 -
I nuke it for 10 minutes then out in preheated oven for 10 to get the oven bake effect0

It only takes mine 6 minutes to cook.0

I rinse then stab with a knife 6-8 slits and microwave for 5 minutes. Then I cut the main slit/ halve it and microwave for an additional 3 minutes0

yes to scrubbing. yes to stabbing. check your microwave for power strength by giving it like 6 minutes to begin with, then like two minutes at a time until it softens up. if you overdo it, the ends will get all hard and yucky, remember you can always add time but if you overdo it, potato is ruined. Once you know how strong your microwave is, you can do it in the future in all one shot-0

Yes, I used to cook it that way until I discovered my new favorite thing :noway:
They are old, but they are the steamer bags. I like the ones from glad better, but ziploc has them too! You just put a raw potato in there *I poked a few holes in mine and put in a little bit of ff butter* and cooked it for a few minutes (I think the bag tells you how long) and it was perfect! I actually did this with a sweet potato, but, I would imagine it will turn out the same way.
The nice thing about those, if you haven't tried them, is that you can cook ANYTHING in them... chicken, fish, eggs, fruit, veggies.... I'm in love haha.0 -
scrub with water, stab four or five times with a fork and wrap in a plastic grocery bag, cook for about 5-6 mins...caution, it is hot when you take it out

After you poke holes in it drizzle it with some extra virgin olive oil and it will come out sooo much better and softer0

there are some made specific for the microwave. They are in the produce section by the regular potatos and they only take about 6 minutes to cook. If they make a whistling noise while cooking that is normal don't freak out.0

I do 2 med/large potatoes, wash, stab a couple of times, I put in a microwave safe bowl (no lid)
Change power level to 7 and cook for 15 mins. Perfect every time!
