And I'm so scared of gaining weight from eating there. I'm going from the 2-5 of February and we have the disney dining plan, I tried looking up the restaurants menus and came up with basically the best thing to get would be fish? While in the parks I was just thinking about eating fruit, and salads with no dressing. And only drinking water when I'm there as well. Any other ideas maybe? To stay healthy? It's also good cause were walking all day too.

I generally eat very little at Disney. There's so much going on that I don't feel hungry, though I always have to go to "France" for a cheese plate and chocolate mousse. :-)

We usually just grab something quick in the parks when we do eat and there are usually some decent choices. And, yes, you will be walking a TON.

If you're lucky and it's warm enough, it might be worth getting up a little early to do laps in the hotel pool before you hit the parks. And if not, maybe go for a run or something in the morning.

I went back in September and I before I went I wrote a similar forum post. I said to myself that whilst I was there I would eat healthily. But I was just lying to myself.

The best advice I can give you is to just enjoy yourself and eat what ever you want. I know it sounds bad, but if you are visiting all of the Disney, Universal and SeaWorld parks and Premium outlets then you will be walking pretty much all day everyday and will be constantly burning calories. I think I had a salad ONCE and it wasn't even that great. I'm from the UK and wanted to try some American classics like corndogs and churros so I did and they were delish! I was eating junk food for 2 weeks and was scared to get on the scales when I returned to the UK. But I had only put on 4lbs which is AMAZING considering the amount of food I ate. The walking in the heat really helped keep those lbs off.

I do admit though, I was glad to be home and on a normal diet eating healthy foods. I did enjoy the junk food eating but by the end of the holiday I was craving salad and vegetables and a good old traditional english roast dinner instead of burgers and hotdogs with chips (or as the americans call it - fries) Chips for them are crisps - we learnt from that

So just ENJOY yourself I say  xxx

It's all about balance. Eat what you want for a couple of meals. There are probably things there that you wont get anywhere else. Try to get the salad or grilled fish at least one meal a day. For me, it is easiest to eat healthy at breakfast. I like plain oatmeal, fruit, etc. Dinner is the toughest for me unless there is grilled fish I want.

I tend to go to WDW a few times a year and have always tried to maintain the following strategy. First of all, I wear a pedometer. You'd be shocked how many miles you walk. On my fall 2.5 day weekend there, I walked 27.2 miles. And that is typical. So, I feel like I can give myself leeway to eat one meal a day where I eat what I want, but still write it down. For breakfasts, I typically did cereal with skim milk and fruit, or a bagel with peanut butter. Then for lunch or dinner, I tried to make a good choice of grilled chicken and veggies or apple slices. The other meal was our "splurge" meal. You will find that there are healthy snacks at nearly every food outlet - bananas, apples, oranges, cut fruit, bags of grapes, cut veggies. This makes it so much easier!

Water is pretty critical too. I carried a water bottle into the parks and refilled it throughout the day, sometime adding a lemon packet to it.

You can definitely vacation at WDW and not gain a lot of weight. It is even better than many other vacations because you are so active, rather than lying on a beach or by a pool for most of your leisure time.

    I hope that helps.
