Foods to pad exercise calories...

Okay, I'll start this by saying that I don't want to drink pre-made shakes or any kinda of powder I have to mix with anything.
I have always eaten healthy and I've been a pescetarian (no eating mammals or birds) for 5 years now. When I cook, I naturally cook low calorie meals. I gained the weight I had by stuffing my face with snacks late at night: cookies, chips. So, now that I am not eating junk food, I actually can't fill the amount of calories I need with my exercise-heavy lifestyle.
On a daily basis I need to eat about 1800-2200 calories and I am struggling to fill that mark on most days. After eating breakfast, mid-day snack, lunch, and dinner I usually have about 800 calories left to eat.
So, what are some super healthy foods I can eat that are HIGH in calories?
*Also, working out less is not an option. I gave up my car 2 years ago to encourage myself to walk more, so at a minimum I walk the 4 miles to and from work everyday. I also walk my dog, walk to the grocery, walk everywhere, you get the idea.*
Thanks! :flowerforyou:

any kind of legumes usually has good nutrient rich calories. Beans, nuts, some fruits.
Whole grains like steel cut oats and unprocessed wheat, ezikiel bread...
yogurts are good for a quick calorie fix. Don't worry about the low carb stuff, just look out for added sugar, added sugar is usually bad. If you want to add sweet to it, puree 2 or 3 strawberries, or a 1/2 serving of blueberries or rasberries, and add them to the yogurt. that's a good source of sugar that doesn't spike blood sugar levels.
all have good calorie counts.0 -

Pescetarian and gave up your car.
That is really highly inspiring.
Plus you're cute.
Good luck filling those calories. I have no advice. I always do cookies and ice cream.0 -
Have you tried having a protein shake within 30 minutes of your workout? They're very good for your muscles and are a healthy, high cal drink. I started this 2 weeks ago and love it:
Whey Protein Natural Vanilla Isolate Powder - 1oz. (1 scoop) - 100 cals
1 Banana - 110 cals
1 TBL Natural PB (optional) - 70ish cals
8oz. skim milk - 60-100 cals
5 ice cubes
*Blend in a blender...makes nice 'n frothy. YUM!!!*I've also tried it with other fruits: canteloupe, strawberries, blueberries, etc.
