I gained about 25lbs with my daughter and I am now 5 months post partum and am still have a little more than 10 lbs to lose to get back to pre-pregnancy weight. (17 lbs from goal weight) I am now starting to find a balance between working full time, my family and working out. Even though I have lost some of the baby weight I notice my midsection is very unappealing and my posture is horrid due to a lack of core strength. For all those moms who've been there and got their body back, maybe even better than before, can you share your tips hints and inspiration. For those moms who are in the same boat feel free to add me so when can get through this together and be the hot moms we all desire to be!

  • Thank you so much for posting this... I have been wondering if I should write something about this horrible midsection of mine as well.
    My son is going to be 3 in March, and I still haven't lost a pound. I'll be honest I'm up and down about working out at the gym, and eating right. As for meals, I like certain foods, and I know I need to start portion control...
    I just got myself a machine for my home - so I work out every day. Three times a week I do a program with Jullian Michaels (from the Biggest Loser), 20 min, high intesity. Ever other day I do about an hour at my own pace... and starting to feel great.

    As the previous person wrote... Please give any help as to what your little trick is :-) I want to do it all naturally !!!

  • My tummy is perfect, but after having two babies 15 months apart, my tummy was HORRIBLE! Losing the weight seemed to be the easy part, that hard part was getting my tummy to look better and to get myself standing up straight. What I found to work has been doing yoga. Find dvds or go to a gym and take a class, it is truly amazing. I swear by yoga

    I went from 7.6 stone to 11stone with my son. I had a c section so had quite a pouch. You can tone this area, i used strength and cardio i.e 30 day shred, 6 week 6 pack. it will go, it took me 7 months to get to 111llbs and tone that area. As you can see from my pic i have no longer got wobbly bits from pregnancy. Well done you, it is hard ot fit this all around family life, my 10 year old does it with me along with my partner. ITs great fun x

    I lost all my weight yet still have a ridge, so to speak, under my belly button. I eat as clean as I can and lift, and run when I can, yet its still there. Its not noticeable really but I see it.
    Why is that the last to go??? Its not fair. :sad:

    It can take your body a good year to recover from child birth. Getting back into a routine when you aren't sleeping nights is hard too! I found the best way for me to work my core during that time was with an exercise ball. Of course, I had c-sections, so my experience was probably quite a bit different.

    After my first daughter was born it took me 18 months to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I did pilates to help my stomache and it came back just fine. After my second daughter was born (2 1/2 years ago) my stomache was much worse and that made my back hurt. I'm still 13 pounds away from my pre-baby weight but getting there. In addition to core workouts like pilates it is good to just tighten your tummy muscles as you think about it when going through the day. Sitting at your desk? Tighten those muscles for a few minutes. Picking up your child? Tighten your tummy muscles first, then lift. Also, kegels are supposed to help too by strengthening your pelvic floor, other muscles will follow. Good luck!

    For me it was more about the amount I was eating than exercise. While I always tried to fit in some sort of workout since I like working out more as a way I feel about myself and gives me some time to focus on just me, most of the time my workout was cleaning and walking the baby around. All three of my babies loved to be held and walked. I gained about 60 lbs with each pregnancy (all c-sections) and it took about 4-6 months to lose the weight.

    This third time my stomach sticks out more and has a rounded look. I had gained 20lbs before my third pregnancy and I am struggling to lose even just 10-15 of that which 15 is my goal. I now have a good balance where I can fit in a short DVD which is why I love 30 Day Shred and Ripped in 30 and Shred it with weights. Recently I have even been able to fit in 6 week 6 pack every other day and I feel I see a slight difference in my shape.

    My goal this year is to stay away from scales and measurements and focus on how my clothes fit. I just bought a pair of jeans in one size smaller. They fit but once they start to get loose then I will weigh to see if I need to adjust my calorie intake.

    I say definitely be honest about your calorie intake. I have 3 kids and I run a daycare in my home so I pass out snacks and prepare food all day and I love crackers so I have been really watching not to take 1-2 bites every time I pass some out. ( I have a set food schedule but with some younger kids they nap through food time and I feed them when they wake and my 2 oldest daughters get home from school and hour after "snack time")

    I just try to keep the faith that it will happen over time. Give yourself some more credit for only being 5 months post partum :) I have noticed that mine has gone down over time.. its the elasticity that I am worried about. Im worried I will have to "tuck" my pouch in my pants/underwear for the rest of my life, haha.
