T-Nation is a fantastic resource if you don't mind colorful language.

I like the "Body for Life" program. Look up bodyforlife.com. It is common sense eating and exercising.

I bought this book because so many on MFP seem to be fans of it, and I didn't like it at all. The author seemed perpetually misinformed and unconvincing. But, like I said, a lot of people swear by it, so it may work for you. All I know is that I returned it the day after I bought it.

This, Stronglifts 5x5, or Starting Strength are all fantastic. I'm a Stronglifts lifter, myself.

Agree. I don't know how "female" tips would differ from those for men. I just started Stronglifts 5x5 a couple weeks ago and I am loving it so far.

I am starting that plan!!! It's a great book, and very enlightening! I am giving it to my sister who thought about doing the typical girl lifting (high rep low weight). I need my knees to feel better before I start though.

Even i borrowed it from my library for the same reason, but didn't like it either..
May be try the above book, or even total strength training for women is also good

This! Definitely!!! I've got a 'heavy lifting' background and this is a terrific supplement to that as well as working with beginners.

And don't just skip to the workouts - READ the book! There is a lot of terrific information in there.
