Hey All,
For the last 6 months I have been unable to make the scale budge. I am eating my 1200 cal and I work out at least 2 days a week. I don't drink pop, coffee or juice and my food choices are good. I was in between 156 and 158 going back and forth, week after week . . . I was on TrimSpa with diet and exercise and gained 1 lb. :grumble: I am totally messed up right now!?~ Any suggestions. I just got so upset on the phone with my husband and he is such a sweetheart, says he has the bikes ready to go when I am done work
Please help, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Have you gotten your thyroid tested? You may have a thyroid complication which makes it difficult to lose/gain weight. That's odd that it's been 6 months and you haven't seen any results.0
-
You need to increase your workouts..2 days a week isnt going to do much if anything at all...shoot for 5 days 60minute each if possible. Good luck in your journey..I suggest try increasing it for 2 weeks and checking progress after that ....:drinker:0

I was also thinking this.. 2 seems too little. The average person should at LEAST be getting 3 days in of 30-60 minutes depending on age, and how much you're trying to lose. You need to make sure you're burning calories too, so do lots of cardio.0 -
I will definately increase the cardio, and yes I had my thyroid tested.
Thanks Kasey and Myastyme!0 -
1200 cals for 6 months and not losing? then your metabolism is running at far less than that if your activity doesn't help for a weight loss... it's what happens after being on diets, which i see you have all the time.. up the calories to maintenance for a while to fix it and then start over0
-
1200 calories is usually arbitrary -- even though tons of people with your same problem say that's how much they eat -- and the 1200 calories a day might be the problem.
On the home page, use the goal setting calculator. Be honest with it and see what it recommends you eat per day. If you exercise more, eat more (that will calculate for you too). There are lots of opinions on this, but I'm doing it and nearly 40 lbs lighter for doing so.
Also, bring this up at your next dr. visit. Just to be on the safe side.0 -
Angela, what is your height, weight, activity level?0

I agree, up em a little, but definitely up the exercise, start getting in some muscle training, you'll see results, quick.0 -
I have brought it up to my Dr. and she just says, " you just lost 100 lbs, give it up already and just be happy how you look . . .:" I did lose 98 lbs but that was almost a year ago, so my Dr. is no help to me right now! I have helped so many people lose weight and I am having so much trouble right now, it is so stressful!!0
-
5'6, 159lbs *would never guess that looking at me. I am very active, strong. When I say work out 2 days a week that is at least 2 days a week. I play alot of competitive sports.
Have any suggestions?0 -
Do you have a more specific goal than a weight?0
-
So, your BMI is 25.7
and
your BMR is 1478
that means you are probably eating too few calories. I agree with SB that at that size your goal shouldn't be pounds (a better one would be Body Fat %) but non the less, 1200 calories for you sounds REALLY low, especially if you are that active.0 -
Ohhhh, go with body fat % instead of lbs . . . I have a fit test at 5pm at my gym TODAY! I can definately try that . . .
Thanks for all your time and help ladies!0 -
maybe shoot for just toning your body and getting results that way ..and just pushing yourself physically without any weight loss in mind..you truly are a beautiful girl and 98lbs is a huge accomplishments....I think you might have to be at the point to where you think "hey im active i workout if i lose weight in the process fine..if not thats fine too as long as your not gaining"....Good luck0
-
I picked 135 because that is the weight I felt beautiful and happy with . . . I know what you mean by goal but not really. I was 98lbs heavier last year . . . if you asked me then it was the whole to play with my kids and be more outgoing. To everyone else I look great . . . but inside I feel like I can do better!
At some point we all have to re-evaluate our goals to determine a) if they're realistic and b) if they're even healthy. I would love to be 115 again. I weighed that in highschool and I wore a size 2/3 pant. However, my body has changed a LOT since I was 16. I have much more muscle mass. To lose 15 lbs now would mean I'd have to give up a lot of muscle mass. That goal is realistic for my height, but not healthy for my body composition.
We are always our worst critics and will always feel we can do better. Sometimes we focus so hard on the future we can't see what we're doing now. You need to take breaks periodically--stop exercising hard, eat maintenance. And as we come closer to a lower body fat, we also need to reduce the deficit by eating more. Your body runs on hormones, not math, so cutting calories too low eventually causes your hormones to slow your metabolism down. At that point, you need to give your body a break and look again at your goals.0 -
Thanks Ladies!!
See you lighter!!!0 -
First and foremost good job on the weight loss 98lbs is awesome- Now how about focusing on weight training and toning your body- Cause as you define you muscles you can look 15lbs smaller without the scale budging.-0
-
oh one more thing 1200 calories is really low- not so bad when you had alot to lose cause your body used fat as fuel but now that you are smaller you need more and it makes it harder to get the weight to come off- Try different workouts- If you do the same thing every time you work your body becomes used to that type of exercise thats why its good to spice it up with differnent things to challenge yourself and your body..
Best of luck0 -
I ... um, I think she called me a lady. :noway:

Thank you for that comment. It is something I really needed to hear today. I got my thyroid tests back and realized I was not being kind. But I still wanted to keep on losing. But I realized I need to take a break and concentrate on muscles for now.At some point we all have to re-evaluate our goals to determine a) if they're realistic and b) if they're even healthy. I'll tell you one thing, if that WAS my gender, I doubt many would call me a lady!0 -
lol you "GUYS" are too funny. Sorry about that SHBoss . . . my apologies! So I had my fit test yesterday and was told I was . . . ready for this . . . I am currently OBESE and if I gain another 4 lbs I will be morbidly obese. I almost punched the guy! I have 36% body fat . . . I was told I wasn't drinking enough water . . . my body only had 1/4 of what it should. Which THE WATER part I will agree with because I don't drink any. . . . So I will definately take all the advice given to me and Starting TODAY, aim to drink 8-10 glasses of water, and start some circuit training with low weight high rep. Thanks so much for all your help . . .0
-
How did you get your body fat measured? I can let you know the margin of error for that measurement.0
-
did they use the calibers on you? Or did you submerge in water? Or did you hold that thingy with both hands?
Or did they have you stand on a scale that read your water levels and your fat percentage--0 -

Something to think about. Jillian Michaels from the Biggest Loser has a radio podcast every Sunday morning , here is the website http://kfiam640.com/podcast/SUNDAY.xml it's very informative and you can download past podcasts to your Ipod or MP3 player and listen to them while you are working out. She gives lots of good advice on the show to callers. By reading everybody's answers it's stuff she would agree with. Hope this helps too!! Good luck!!0
