Is this the right time to pre-order extremely overpriced flowers?
Ladies - whats a good v-day for you? Do you expect anything, and if so are you devastated if he forgets?
for the singles: does this time of year annoy you? or do you hit the local singles scene and hate-f*** the next person who offers u a v-day shooter

I don't expect flowers on Valentines Day. You can buy them any other of the 364 days when they are not $100 for a dozen roses, that's ridiculous. I would be pissed if he forgot Valentines day. But I don't expect much. Dinner, maybe a movie. Just time together. It is yet another holiday that marketing has advertised the **** out of and now men feel obligated to make your day special. Every day with you SO should be special. It severyday and the little things that add up. Not one day that he made reservations and got me flowers because he felt he should.0

Totally agree Megan....:-) Anything you do on Valentines Day, can be done any day of the year. The little things make the biggest difference every day. I hadn't given my other half a hug for a few days...I woke up all calm and content, gave him a morning hug and it set us up good for the rest of the day. And he I knew he was touched by that small simple action. It made me feel great too.0 -
I actually enjoy the extra excuse to treat my guy special. Sometimes we do something special just for each other, sometimes, I end up putting on the Valentine's Banquet at church and he agrees to be my date.
Other than flowers, a few things we've done are:
Dinner in - with a movie we pick out together.
Covered the bed with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups - think rose petals. That was for him.
I filled his lunch box with kisses, hugs and other mini candies. Literally filled. He has a huge lunch box and it took him over a month to eat it all.
Surprised him at work with Subway's Meatball Sub.
Make his favorite dinner - lasagna, garlic bread, salad, and cheesecake.
He got me a singing pig and my first cell phone (which I still often lose to this day).
Commercial Valentine's Day definitely puts too much pressure on guys to "get it right." We try to make it more of an "us" time than a "he/she" holiday.0 -
It annoys the f**k out of me. Always has.0

I just expect cuddles. I want my cuddles. Everything else is just bonus!
Edit: We both exchange gifts, it's not just him giving me gifts. Which reminds me that I should start looking...0 -

I expect a card. I'm totally big on cards. We usually also exchange gifts and do the usual dinner and a movie. I love to spoil my hubby.0

I love valentines when I'm single, it's an excuse to go out with the girls and treat ourselves! Now I'm with my boyfriend, we've agreed to put the money we would have spent into going away for a night on another day.... but I secretly hope for flowers too0

Personally I dislike it, even as a kid. I was bullied at school relentlessly, and yet on Valentine's Day, I received phoney sentiments, and had to give them out as well.
Now, being divorced....ya, I admit, the day is a little bit of a jab in the ribs/heart for me.
Oh well.

When I was married I loved the flowers and romance. We never spent a ton of $$ but it was always special. This is my first V-tines single and nope, I don't hate it! I refuse to sit around sad just because I don't have anyone to share it with. I'm gonna buy chocolate and flowers for my kiddos, and have a special evening with them.0

I enjoy going out to dinner & getting flowers/gift from the hubby.0

When I was single I never really hated V-day, because it isn't just for couples. I use it to call friends and family that I don't usually call just to tell them I love them and miss them!
As a couple now, I still use the day to call those friends and family i don't talk a lot too but with my boyfriend I use it as an excuse to spoil him a bit .. I would be upset if he forgot to say happy v-day to me, but I don't really expect anything. There will be tooooo many people out at night, so we might go to a nice vday lunch though!0 -
It's a pointless "holiday" in my opinion. We don't celebrate it. We make our wedding anniversary our "lovey dovey holiday," and we don't usually go all out for that either.0
