One of my class requirements:

Magazine: Bloomberg Businessweek, the weekly business magazine, will be required. You will automatically be provided a subscription when you begin classes—do not get your own subscription—we have negotiated a very favorable student rate for one year. Each week, you will be assigned to read certain articles.

CLASS FEE: In order to cover the cost of the 1-year Bloomberg Businessweek subscription and the retreat, we charge a class activity fee of $35. Please pay this by cash or check no later than.............................What?????????????????????????? Anyone can buy this for less than $20.00! smh....

try math textbooks. Hundreds of dollars a piece and they change 1/4 of the last chapter and tell you last year's book won't do. By some amazing coincidence, the instructor is the one writing said textbook.

My freshman math teacher encouraged everyone to participate in a bonfire on the last day of class, burning the texbook that they just bought from him 16 weeks earlier. This guaranteed there would be no used copies available to the next class coming in. I kept mine, and sold it to someone else. He was mad.

it says, "the cost of the magazine and the retreat" ... leading me to believe that there are other incidentals being covered by this course fee.

You think that's a ripoff, wait until you graduate and can't find a job because the economy sucks. After all that tuition money, $35 will seem pretty insignificant.

when you pay other $35 "fees" over your degree completion it adds up to a significant amount.

The $20 subscription for Bloomberg is a 6 month subscription, they are giving you a year. $40 > $35. Sounds like you need the class.
