I like to know if tuna is good to eat for lunch every day? I put light mayo and 2 egg whites and pepper. I eat on my thin bun with lettuce and red onin and tomatoes. Is that lots in calories or fat? I notice tuna has lots of sodiun in it, so that's probably bad right there!!! Can anyone tell me if tuna can be a bad choice for lunch or it depends what you put in it?

Tuna also has mercury so I wouldn't have it every day.

As mentioned, tuna tends to be high in mercury, so stay within the recommended weekly allowance. Also, different types of tuna have different levels, so check labels for what type of tuna you're buying.

Well of course tuna by itself is healthy and good to eat every day. But if you throw a bunch of crap in with it then you ruin the whole point. Try greek yogurt instead of mayo sometime. It's healthier and delicious.

To address your sodium concerns, there are low sodium tuna options out there.

    Having tuna for lunch tomorrow...

Anyways..I don't think it would be the worst thing to have it.daily but I would do some research. Aside from that, sodium is one major thing to be cautious about.

I eat tuna for lunch quite often. I usually put mustard and a tablespoon of sugar free salad cubes or relish. I think it's a great choice :)

If you track your food in take on MFP it will tell you the sodium levels of foods..I love this food tracker.
  • Yeah an adult should really only consume 1 can of tuna a week due to the high mercury content. As for the sodium issue you can either buy it low sodium (which can be more expensice) or you can rinse it under water for 1 full minute. This eliminates about 75% of the sodium in the tuna.
