writing thank you notes

do you make your kids write thank you notes? we do, but we also allow email thank yous and video thank yous. do you think physical thank you notes are a thing of the past?

We have our sons write thank you notes for presents they have received. I'm all for electronic communication, but for some things a physical note is more appropriate.

They may be but I still make my kids write them because they can practice spelling, handwriting and manners all at one time.

My daughter is 16 so she normally gets gifts cards or money as gifts. Before she can spend them I make her write a thank you card. She's been writing them since she was little. I also practice what I preach and send out thank you cards myself. The only time I do it electronically is if a group takes me to lunch or something like that.
