Ways to whittle down thighs?

I've thighs that could be mistaken for tree trunks. Not wobbly and flabby as such but huge solid lumps of.... well you get the point.
How on earth do I decrease them in size?

You can't spot-reduce but if you stick with MFP you'll lose fat all over and get your thighs into shape. Fast walking or running, especially if you throw in hills, will help sculpt the muscles, as will weight training (think squats and lunges). I've got a bit of a thing for kettlebell swings which seem to target those difficult bits!0

I am a pear shape as are most women. The only way to get skinny thighs is to get skinny everything else as well. Dropping the weight and preserving the muscle, which it sounds like you have, that is the key.0
