Different approach to calorie deficit

I'm just wondering if anyone has tried and been successful on MFP with an approach where you set your goals as weight maintenance but don't eat back your exercise calories. For me, that would mean being at a calorie deficit of 600 - 1100 calories on exercise days and calorie neutral on my rest day. The advantage, as I see it, is that you could have a consistent calorie goal each day for menu purposes. You don't have to worry about adjusting intake based on fitness activities. It does, however, require a commitment to getting in a consistent amount of exercise on most days to lose weight. Thoughts?

I did this for a few months and it worked fine for me. It averaged out that I was losing 0.5-1 pound a week. I have set MFP in all sorts of ways- I am a sedentary desk worker and for a while I had my activity level set to "moderately active" and didn't log any exercise. As long as over a period of days you are running a deficit, you'll lose weight. Find what works best for you!

I do that during the summer when I'm more active and can be a bit more liberal with things. All that matters is that you end up in a healthy caloric deficit - how you get there doesn't much matter.
