Generic vs. Name Brand

Trying to comprise a list of things that have little difference in taste between generic and name brand. A lot of people complain buying healthy or just buying at the grocery store in general is too expensive. I realize this is going to differ between person, but a LOT of things genuinely are made out of the same ingredients as the kind in the pretty packaging. I am AMAZED at how much I save just by getting Wal-Mart's Great Value brand over the other stuff. So here I am so far:

*Most condiments (ketchup, light mayo, mustard, etc.)
*Coffee creamer (although the selection isn't as vast)
*Dairy products (milk, eggs...if that counts, cheese)
*Meat products (haven't tried any generic fish, but I find the chicken, beef, deli meats, to taste the SAME)
*Baking materials (flour, sugar, etc.)
*Salad dressings
*Salsa
*Cereal (although I still have a few name brands because it's hard to find the super healthy brands in generic variety)
*Dry pasta

What else have you guys tried?

  • I find when I shop the sales and use coupons (as generics do not have coupons) that the name brand ends up being cheaper.

Tinned (canned) spaghetti in tomato sauce...I'd rather have shop-brand than name-brand any day. Also tinned tuna, salmon etc and frozen vegetables...I'm not paying more for something that tastes exactly the same!!
