Goodbye Hostess :(

Is anyone else sad to see another American Icon fading into the horizon? Not that I bought a lot of Hostess produces (could I be a contributing factor to their demise?) but I do have fond memories around Hostess Cupcakes...

When I was a little girl I use to spend some weekends with my Grandma. We would hang out and do some window shopping, dance in the living room during the Lawrence Welk show and eat things that I didn't get to eat at home. One of these things was Hostess cupcakes. We would go to the store and I would plead with grandma to buy me Hostess Cupcakes, not always, but most of the time she would. I would sit there and eat them slowly, peeling the frosting of the top and then breaking it in two to eat the white swirls first. Then I would break the cupcake in two and stick my tongue into the cup cake to scoop out all the filling. Finally I would eat the cake with big gulps of milk.

It's sad to think there will be children that will grow up not knowing what a Twinkie or a Ho Ho is, or the joy of talking your grandma into buying them for you.

Do you have any Hostess memories to share? (Or am I the only Hostess geek?)

Prepares for all the food purists to tout the evils of a twinkie and ding dong.

Did anyone ever think any Hostess products were healthy? hehehehe Nope, just a guilty pleasure form my childhood.
