Hello!!! My name is Kayla! I am 23 years old. I am from Chicago, IL.
I started my weight loss journey back in 2009 when I stepped on the scale for the first time in about a year. I looked down and read 183 lbs. I was in shock. I thought the scale was broken. I thought to myself, "there is no possible way that I weigh this much." I stepped down then stepped back on. Still read 183 lbs. That was my "aha moment." I knew I needed to change something. I knew I needed to change ME! I was in such denial for a long time. I knew I was getting "bigger" but never thought it was that bad. I was just in a spot in my life where I was having fun and had no worries about anything.
Back when I was in high school, I was very healthy. I was a cheerleader and I was very active!!! Then something awful happend....... I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism. It was very bad for my body and my heart.. At one point, I weighed 108 lbs. I was 16 at the time. I was ordered by my Dr. to resign from my cheer squad. Ever since then, I stopped doing things. I wasnt active anymore. I started partying, drinking, etc.... I lost my healthy body and attitude.
These days, I am currently weighing in at 140 lbs. I lost approximately 43 lbs since 2009. It was the best thing I have ever done. I am back to feeling healthier, eating better, and hitting the gym 4 days a week.
I am still working towards my ultimate goal and that is to be 125 lbs. I plan on reaching this goal by April 2013, hopefully sooner!!! I have finally found a good workout/eating routine to keep me motivated.
If there is anyone out there like me, please add me as a friend and send me a message!!!! Or if you just want to share your story with me, I would love to hear it!!!! I think the best motivation is by hearing what others have to say and to know that we are all in this together. I hope to hear from you soon!!!!

Hi Kayla, I'm 148 pounds and looking to get down to 120 or less. I'm 29 years old. I used to be slim and fit but a combination of being in a car accident and going on a medication with a side effect of weight gain caused me to gain 75 pounds. I got down to 150 by walking every day for at least 40 minutes. I've been stuck at 150 for two years though and needed to kick it up a notch. Joined mfp a week ago and am LOVING it so far. The support here is great and it's all very encouraging. Feel free to add me if you want.0
