Too Much Protein

I have been doing great using MFP. My big concern is: I havebeen eating way to much Protein. Any thoughts?

No you haven't been. Granted I haven't seen your diary, but if you are using default Mfp values then no you haven't been. Especially cutting.

I am having the same problem. I really thought I would have trouble controlling carbs, but I always go over my protein. I am doing a program at my gym, where we work out and consult with a nutritionist, so I know it is safe. I guess if I have to go over, it is better to go over protein than carbs or fat.0

just to let you know! I am a woman..obviously, and I ate over 100grams of protein today, still not up to my goal amount but getting closer. If ANYTHING has a red number in your food logs it SHOULD be your protein. Makes your muscles stronger and happier.0

Actually, most people eat way too much. As long as your kidneys are good and you hydrate properly, eating too much protein isn't a problem, but the human body really doesn't need nearly as much protein as a lot of people on here claim.
All your body does is take all that extra protein and convert it to glucose.0 -
protein is so good for you! MFP setting on protein are low. i am bulking and aim for 200 grams a day. today i had 213!0

just to let you know! I am a woman..obviously, and I ate over 100grams of protein today, still not up to my goal amount but getting closer. If ANYTHING has a red number in your food logs it SHOULD be your protein. Makes your muscles stronger and happier.
I would need muscles in order to make them stronger and happier. LOL0 -
You can eat too much protein, but you've got to try really really hard to do it. Unless you're guzzling multiple shakes a day and combining it with big meat meals, you'll be fine.0

At 110 you are no where close, you are good bro. If you are lifting Id up it some. I try to be at 250g + a day, or I'm chocking down some bcaas since I fast before working out.0

Not to pick a fight here, it is possible and very easy to eat too much protein. The body can only digest so much protein at one sitting, large amounts with every meal is going to overload your system and cause a bit of havoc. Like everything else, protein needs to be approached in moderation, too much can cause stress to your kidneys. A good reference value is 0.8 to 1 gram of protein per KG of lean body mass. Too little causes ketosis, too much can cause other stresses, including gout (although it is a disease that comes about after long term over eating as well as other factors).
As I said, it's all about moderation, balance as well. Reducing protein intake will rarely cause significant problems as long as you are maintaining an intake to support your lean body mass (reference the 0.8 to 1g per kg of lean body mass).0 -

I glanced at your diary and you fall into the same category of being deficient (in my opinion) in protein and fat. Your carbs aren't out of proportion but your calories are low, maybe too low depending on your height / weight.0

I am seeing a Dr. who speializes in weight loss, she has everyone eating 1/2 gram protein for every pound you weigh. So take your weight divide it in half and that's how many grams of protein you need to lose weight and not muscle. You don't want to lose muscle. As your weight decreases so does your grams of protein. So far I have lost 52 lbs using this method, and really limiting my carbs. Good luck!0

I was always going over my protein. According to the Jillian Michaels website, I 'm what she calls a balanced metabolizer (that work looks funny).. anyhoo... and my ratio should be 40% carbs, 30% fats, 30% protein, so I changed it on here and now I'm doing better.0

high levels of protein in your diet is not a bad thing at all.
You will get people telling you that it will cause amyloidosis of the kidney and other problems but that simple isnt true - the glomeruli in your nephrons are so good at repelling protein that it with an issue to your kidney unless you have a pre-existing kidney problem. MFPs preset levels for protein are way too low - my starting weight (before i joined MFP) was 260 - im down to about 210 or so now and I have consumed a very high protein diet through my entire experience
as far as people saying protein can be stored as fat - its very difficult for your body to use protein as a long term fuel (glycogen or lipid) it has to make several alterations to the amino acid before it can even convert it to glucose - so it makes no sense for your body to store excess protein as fat - that being said in the absence of carbohydrates it will convert it to glucose for immediate energy.
of all the macros to go high on - protein is the best one0 -

For the most part you look good, but I can tell you that you are way too low on fiber even though your diary is not tracking it (go to your diary, then settings, then add fiber to the list) You need more veggies (for a guy like you about 4-6 servings per day minimum)0 -
I like protein it keeps me full. The rules I follow are no more then 30 g of protein ia sitting your body doesn't absorb more then that... Unless it's after a work out. So I they to keep around 2o-25 for my light meals and do sometimes go heavier but no worries to me I'd rather that then fat.0

I don't always track my water right. I drink loads and loads of seltzer. But I drink it right out of the bottle and don't keep track.0 -

im assuming you mean ketogenesis when you say ketosis?
ketone bodies are made when lipids are beta oxidized - any person losing weight should have ketone bodies in their bloodstream and urine. Ketoacidosis is a problem that usually occurs with diabetes (type I DM) where insulin isnt being produced so adipose isn't being made properly - and you will see a pH imbalance, two separate issues0 -

As far as veggies go, I DESPISE them. I like green beans and salads with tomato and cucumber with leafy greens. Then I put olive oil on it and it becomes way too much fat.0
