Worried about results...could use some advice

So...I've been embracing a healthy lifestyle for almost a week now. I've started running and walking on a daily basis. I've also been doing some yoga and other exercises to increase flexibility and strengthen muscles that haven't been used in a while. In addition today, I've cut out all sweets and have been making wiser choices in terms of food and portion sizes. I've been reading alot of post on people who are losing a significant amount of weight over time and also losing pounds each week. Saturday will be my 1 week mark and for some reason I'm not sure if I've lost anything. I know it's a bit premature, but what should I be expecting? I have a tendency to get discouraged when I'm not seeing results as quickly as I'd like. I've had people tell me not to rush it, but in the back of my mind I can't help think that maybe I'm doing something wrong to keep the weight from leaving. When did you guys start really seeing the weight drop off? Any advice to ease the nerves of a newbie?

It sounds like you have made some really positive changes in your life - you are already a winner, regardless of what the scale says.
Some people find they drop a lot of weight at first (often it's a lot of water weight), others take a while to see the scale go down.
Whichever way it goes for you, know that you are making great choices for a healthier life and you will see results - you just have to keep at it!
  • I worry about results too because it is disapointing not to see results. I don't weigh myself more than once a week (or more) because that way it's more likely you'll see a difference. Don't expect to look at the scale and see a huge difference. Usually you'll only lose a pound or two in a week.

    Great advice.

The scale can be unreliable in showing your progress. Water weight fluctations can easily mask small lose in weight.

I have gone a whole month with no movement on the scale before. I did see a huge difference in inches though,
