ok guys that really bugs me.. how can a half cup of organic brown basmati rice have 300 calories?! help....
I usually would eat 3 to 4 cups... even of white rice. I love japanese food. So I like to have some rice in the morning with some fish sometimes and miso... but that screws up my 1200 a day alot.. i cant just do alot in the morning then i have to be careful all day?
do they mean maybe a half cup uncooked? help...

It should specify... Also, while it's high in calories, brown rice is still better for you than white rice as it's less refined & more likely to keep you full longer.
Did MFP put you on 1200 calories?0 -
yes it put me on 1200 and I love brown rice, i love japanese food sigh0

Is that DRY or cooked calories? I am guessing that would be the dry calories. One cup of cooked brown rice should run you just over 200 calories.0

Anything w/whole grain will have a slightly higher calorie count than refined white stuff -- BUT, it will also have way more good fiber, and other great nutrients (even proteins) than anything white you can choose. Overall, much much MUCH better for your body AND your weight loss / body fat.
Also, make sure your MFP settings are correct for where you are and what you're doing -- 1,200 is usually too few calories a day for ANY woman, even tiny ones. Mine was set at that originally, but after adjusting my activity level and making sure to stay at 1 lb. loss per week (or less), I was at 1,550 without counting exercise calories. You have to FEED your body consistently and well to achieve any weight of fat loss, and to maintain it in a healthy way. So up it a little, AND eat back all your exercise calories, always. There's a lot of topics on the site about this which might help, too.
Good luck!0 -
Tina: What did you set your activity level on? I try to change my weight goal from 2 lb a week to 1 and it didn't changed anything..
My activity level is the lowest, i have a desk job, I work night shift and 6 hours a night and 2 hours I wake the kids up and walk arround constantly. But I cant count this for the next activity level.. right?0
