Wow. They thought it would be inappropriate to have a large type of cat as a mascot? Or were they actually going to have an "older woman" that chased the young men around as their mascot?

Could have a pagent for players moms every year to determine the new "cougar".......

Kity, get started on that family so you can enter!!!

I actually have a problem with the word "cougar" it screams predatory and very stereo typical of older women. I have never seen younger men as prey personally. I really don't get it. Perhaps I am just a bit naive because all the 40 something women I know are all married. But the school board/administrators are a bunch of idiots, we have a local school with the team names as cougars and the thought of an older woman after young men NEVER crossed my mind. That's just yet another example of politically correct gone bad.

I agree. I HATE the term "cougar". And now they have terms for women who don't quite meet the age range that some *kitten* determined the "cougar" age.

the whole 'cougar' thing doesn't bother me. i think it's a silly premise. sort of the 'word of the hour' syndrome that just happens to have a lot of hype right now. soon there will be a television show talking about the uncommon trait of middle-aged men preying on younger women in attempts to bed them and then...oh, wait...i guess that's so typical it wouldn't make a very interesting tv show...!

we'll have to come up with a nickname for that type of man...hmmmm...the possibilities are endless!

So does this mean that Washington State University needs a new mascot, as theirs is currently a cougar? Or how about the USC Trojans? Or the Game C0cks of South Carolina? This country is a bunch of prudes...I'm sorry :grumble:

In the neighborhood I used to live in there was a middle aged woman who OWNED a cougar, the mountain cat kind. She would be seen every now and then walking it, like it was a dog!

  • What's next? Pretty soon we won't be able to call our Navy guys and gals Seamen.
When I was doing my air warfare qualification for the Navy I was told that technically we could no longer refer to it as the 'cockpit'. (Forget what they want you to call that area of the plane now, though).

how can we forget what you haven't told us? i'm all ears...what do they call it now?!

    Flight deck.

On my aircraft is it now referred to as the flight deck when we have females on crew. Cockpit when not.

Well now that brings up an interesting question...how do you refer to people with the last name of "Koch" when it is pronounced "c0ck"?

Mine too! I know who the photo is but like to pretend it's really his pic. (I'm old enough to be a cougar, but nowhere near the weight etc to pull it off....I'm working on it....who know's maybe I can embarrass my kids being thin instead of by being overweight) (jk...happily married....most of the time)

Or when USC beats OSU we won't see headlines like: "Trojans spank Beavers"...and that, my friend, is a travesty.

It seems so simple. Obviously I paid a lot of attention to that part.
