Is it so hard for me to lose weight? I eat healthier, I have been running at least 3 times a week and doing my Bender Ball, is that not enough, should I be doing more? I wish I had a treadmill or elliptical or SOMETHING that could help me shed these few extra pounds, but I don't. What do you guys do, I just need to lose about 10, maybe 15 pounds to be at my goal weight. Any pointers? Also, any ideas on what I should cut back on? I have been eating more chocolate(from going to the movies) and drinking a few pops a week.

    Hey Danielle,
Do you think perhaps your body is at a content weight and that's why you feel stuck? Sometimes that happens, we try and lose more and we get frustrated when nothing drops off. Only you would know that by how you feel and what you body is telling you. Perhaps some toning might be all it needs now? I recall you talking about that in the past, wanting to tone up a bit.

    Just a thought

i'm the same as you, only needing to lose maximum ten pounds.

1-try to add some resistance training - building muscle will burn fat faster and make you look leaner
2-try to eat every 2-3 hours. its hard at first and you never feel hungry but it WORKS cos u never want to snack on sugary things
3-eat a substantial breakfast, a large lunch, and a smaller dinner. ie. make your meals smaller as the day goes on
4-focus more on protein than carbs

    hope that helps!

It takes a LOT OF WORK to lose the last little bit. Running is great cardio, but at some point you have to either increase the intensity (speed) or duration to increase how many calories you burn. It doesn't take long for your body to become very efficient at a given activity and burn fewer calories than it previously did at the same intensity.
You do need to incorporate strength training. If you've been in a deficit for a long time, eat maintenance and strength train for about 2-4 weeks. This will help you get to a better place hormonally and may even allow for some muscle growth which will increase your resting metabolism. Your workouts need to be really challenging. You are forcing your body to get rid of something that it has learned over 100,000's of years to hold on to.

The weight you are trying to lose isn't going to be hard- You basically have to beat those last pounds off with a stick just stick with it- It just may take a bit longer-
  • losing a small amount of weight is sooo hard! I have been here since january trying to lose 10 pounds and only lost about 3-4 pounds. But I gained a lot of muscle and my inches dropped like crazy! Maybe all you need is patience and more strength training.

Songbyrd, thanks for this. I've just now found the time to incorporate some weights with my running.

Question, I've done some weight lifting in the past and I usually alternate between upper body and lower body - lifting 4 days a week - how long should I typically be in the weight room on those days? How many different exercises should I be doing each day usually? I plan on running still on those days as well.

I've seen weight training sites talk about burnout sets with lower weight rather than a standard set/rep type setup. What do you recommend?

you are already at a very healthy weight and those last few "vanity pounds" are really tough to lose. You're gonna have to kick your own butt, seriously, to get there. It'll be very slow going, and very difficult.
