Hey all you super girls and guys!
I have been working out for a couple years and have lost 80 lbs. I have been lazy and staying at my current weight for 6 months or so. Something bit me in the behind and I am just back on the bandwagon and really pumping it up. I know some of you have polarheart monitors and other varieties but HOW TO CHOOSE and is it worth the expense???? The pedometors that I have had have been JUNK--but of course I know that I also didn't get the most expensive ones either. How do you choose??? PPLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE help me????!!!!
Thanks and you are all AWESOME and have given me a lift every day!!!

I love love love my Polar F6 it has the chest strap with it and gives me all the info I need. For HR and HR zones etc.

It has helped with keeping my heart rate down while running as well as on target for calorie burn.

I have a sportsline, and maybe it's just me, but I really don't like it. The battery doesn't seem to last very long, I have a hard time getting a heart rate using the little button, and overall I just don't trust it. I'm going to be switching to a Polar F6 very soon! It's not much more expensive than my sportsline and I've heard nothing but good things about it. Good luck!

I just bought a polar F4 yesterday, and love it already!
  • I also bought the Polar F4- it was cheaper easy to use and does everything you need! I love it

Ditto. I have the F6 and love it!
  • I also have a Polar F4. It is SOOO worth the expense. They have higher models like the F6 as well but for me the F4 works GREAT. The chest strap is comfortable, and I get all the stats I need from my workout including % of max heart rate, total calories burned, duration of exercise, how long in my target heart rate zone. They are personalized during set up for your age weight and gender so it will tel you what your target heart rate should be.

Also you know you are getting accurate numbers. The number of calories burned on here is not accurate because everyone burns calories at a different rate. I used to go by numbers off the website and when i got my HRM monitor I realized how far off I was!!

I have also found that using my HRM helps me keep up the intensity and stay in the zone I need to be.

I guess you can tell that I highly recommend it!! HAHA good luck.

I had the F4 and recently upgraded to the F6 because the signal on the F6 is encoded. This is important if you work out in a gym setting and don't want to get interference from others that might have HRMs. I do a lot of group exercise (ZUMBA, Body Pump, step, etc) and I was having a problem with all the other folks with their HRMs... so, I upgraded and now I'm set..

Check out Ebay, you can usually get them there for a few bucks less than Amazon or somewhere else..

    Good luck!

One word of warning  they are addicting..
I've gotten to the point where I CANNOT work out without it and I'm totally obsessed about keeping my heart rate up and my calorie burn!

Thank you all so much for your feeback! It is such a wonderful thing to be able to have a group of people to ask! No one in my little po dunk town probably even knows there is such a machine! I am definetly going to get a polar either f4 or f6 depending on if my hubby will let me splurge a little.... hahaha I might have to make his favorite meal or something:laugh:

    Thanks again!

I also love my Polar F6! It's fantastic and definitely helps get you moving! The biggest difference between the F4 and F6 seems to be the encoded signal on the F6, which is great if you're going to be working out in a gym or with other Polar users (which I do regularly and I haven't had a problem). Kudos to you and good luck! :flowerforyou:
