I just have to share how shocked I was today at the calories contained in my 2 pieces of white toast w/butter & peanut butter, after entering my breakfast this morning :noway:

The fright is from the butter and peanut butter. The bread only has around 200 cals.

I don't use butter when I make sandwiches, and only eat peanut butter in the rare circumstance I have a lot of calories to spare. I'm not against eating fat, but I don't find butter or peanut butter to be a very satiating way of taking in my daily fat requirements.

Try Pepperidge Farm Light Style Bread. I love bread, unfortunately, and this has helped to keep the cravings down a bit. 40 to 45 calories a slice.

That's why I don't eat much bread. Too calorie dense.

Look for lower calorie bread. I use Pepperidge farm light style whole grain. They have an Oatmeal that is really good if you don't like whole grain or whole wheat. Only 45 cal a slice. There are a number of others too.

I have to eat (and crave) peanut butter, it's one big way this veggie-head gains her protein :D

I hope you actually measured the butter and peanut butter. Really easy for it to jump from 250 calories for those up to 400.

Sara Lee makes a 45 calorie slice called "45 Calories and Delicious". It's pretty decent, but a bit smaller than a regular slice.

Thank you for the idea of the "light" bread, however I have chosen to skip eating any altered food, no light/diet foods, rather I am listening to my body closer (my hunger and fullness ques) and cutting back on portion sizes (I really didn't need TWO slices of toast, it was just out of habit).

I have to have my peanut butter too. I eat 1 tablespoon of peanut butter with a banana for breakfast. I love it, it's filling and it gives me my PB fix. If you can find small bananas they're just under 100 calories

Another option, would be to NOT buy the ultra light low cal breads, and buy a hearty whole grain bread like Ezekial, and get some real nutrition out of it.

I also never understood adding butter to bread with peanutbutter, don't kill your peanutbuttery goodness with butter!

Just ate some Ezekiel, kinda cardboardy but F it. Put some real natural PB&J on it and a half a banana and you'll be in heaven....

The "crust off" bread (designed for fussy kids?) is a lot lower in calories

If you have a trader joe's around you get thier store brand sprouted bread-rye and wheat are my favorite. They are made with real foods/ingredients and not the fake filler stuff found in most breads. They are very yummy and come in at 60 cals per slice.

Peanut butter (natural without any additives-ingrediants should be peanuts, salt) is a very healthy way to get natural fat and yummy.

I've never heard of eating peanut butter with additional butter but maybe cutting that out would also help.

I do this too. But for me its usually i pre workout snack or midday snack.

Back to PO, yeah its shocking huh. Was shocked myself at how calorie dense it is. I had 3slices for lunch and 2eggs. Have not had bread in more than a month, i just had to. But my choice is brown/wholewheat NO butter though. I dont even buy butter at my house.

I really like the taste of the buttered toast with just a little pb on it so what I've been doing is cutting portions instead of depriving myself the foods and tastes I like, best of both worlds :)

I like oatmeal too, but definately not in place of toast, totally different craving, and I've found if you don't eat what you're body is hungry for, eventually you will fail, I try very hard to listen to what my body is hungry for and eat those foods, just to eat smaller portions :) (smaller portions will = a smaller you)

As for splenda, I don't eat it gives me migraines and l have chosen to eat unaltered foods :)

But thank you for the advice

Well I guess I expected it from butter & pb, but not from bread lol, but I only have one slice now instead of two
