Long walks on the beach.....

Does anyone know how many calories per hour are burned while walking on the beach/in sand? Or in the snow, without snowshoes?
It sure would be a nice addition to the fitness tracking options.
Thanks!

At 170 lbs I earn about 100 calories a mile walking at 4mph (15min/mile). Running/Jogging at 6.7mph (9 min/mile) I earn about 125 calories a mile. From a distance perspective that isn't a huge difference, so my initial conclusion would be that walking on sand isn't going to have a huge impact on calories. However, it will excersize a lot more muscles due to the uneven surface. From a time perspective I'm burning 400 calories an hour vs. 834 calories an hour (if I could keep run that fast that long! ). Therefore, it is possible that there may be a noteworthy amount of additional calories for long beach walks.0
