My husband LOVES the Fiber One and Special K 90 calorie granola bars. He eats them as his "sweet tooth fix" for the day. We were thinking it might be cheaper to make our own however I cannot find any recipes that are less than 150/bar. And even at 150, the ingredients they have look like they cost more than a box of bars from Costco! I'm not sure about changing the ingredients because I know it'll change the calories but I think my head would spin trying to figure out what to change.

Does anyone know of any granola bar recipes that are less than 150/bar? Preferably with a few ingredients that won't break the bank?

I dont'[ have a recipe for "bars" but I buy copious amounts of whole almonds, dried fruit (cranrasins in all kinds of flavors works) and shredded coconut> i put the mixture in snack size baggies, :flowerforyou:

I thought about making bags like that but "that's not the same thing" so apparently he wants it in bar form. So difficult!

I am bumping this to watch it. I am in the same boat with my kids. I want to make homemade because less of the "junk" ingredients but they seem to be high in calories. Are they bigger?

They might be bigger. A few of the recipes didn't really state what the serving size consisted of, they just listed the calories. I'm still searching but nothing's really jumping out.

The first one sounds good and you should be able to cut some of the calories by using unsweetened applesauce. I'm not sure I could go with the second one since I'm not a big pumpkin fan.
